An evil Alduin cult of some sort

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 2:01 pm

There simply has to be some sort of antogonistic faction in the game that opposes the greybeards and wants the world to be devoured. There was one in MW and OB and they worked great, with you infiltrating them, learning about their ways, getting to know new lore and points of view and whatnot.
So far we know nothing about it but let's speculate anyways...One thing's almost certain, there will be new books about this new cult and secret hideouts! Also there might be many elves in this cult because High Elves for example are actually totally cool with the world being destroyed - they see Mundus as a terrible prison for their souls and far as I know.

They would definitely be crazy. As Alduin winning means they die.

I don't want 2 dimensional bad guy's rooting for the end of the world just cause. This is what I got from the imperial library regarding High Elves and Akatosh.:
Auri-El
(King of the Aldmer) The Elven Akatosh is Auri-El. Auri-El is the soul of Anui-El, who, in turn, is the soul of Anu the Everything. He is the chief of most Aldmeri pantheons. Most Altmeri and Bosmeri claim direct descent from Auri-El. In his only known moment of weakness, he agreed to take his part in the creation of the mortal plane, that act which forever sundered the Elves from the spirit worlds of eternity. To make up for it, Auri-El led the original Aldmer against the armies of Lorkhan in mythic times, vanquishing that tyrant and establishing the first kingdoms of the Altmer, Altmora and Old Ehlnofey. He then ascended to heaven in full observance of his followers so that they might learn the steps needed to escape the mortal plane.

Perhaps the high elves are helping Akatosh so they too can escape the mortal plane.

EDIT: just read the whole OP. Glad we think alike :P

Why does it have to be an evil cult?

Why can't it just be a bunch of Altmer worshipping Auri-El, or Khajiit with Alkosh? Or hell, the Empire could be trying to regain control over the region, and using the Nine Divines (starring Akatosh) to win over the local Nords?
