Installing mods via BAIN

Post » Mon May 16, 2011 11:16 pm

I've been following Tomlong75210's step by step guide for installing my FCOM mod game. Should I install all of the mods I want to use at once or in stages? I thought in stages but the 50 Steps to CTD free FCOM has me confused because they mention installing textures and body replacers with FCOM. So I just want to be sure before I click the button in Wrye Bash.

The order that the Installer tab has your mods listed is the order in which they will be installed. It will make no difference if you install one by one or all at once, BAIN will do an "in-order" install regardless. Just ensure that you have the order of installation correct. It's why I <3 BAIN even over OBMM's scripted installs.

Thanks. I'll get to work moving all my archive files to the Bash Installers folder now, then

I know that they might be a chore to read but the first 3-4 posts in my thread on http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1084204-bain-mod-installation-projects/ answers that question in some detail.

As above stated with BAIN you get to manipulate install order much like with plugins you can can adjust load order.

If you already have a stable game and OMOD installation or manual then I would recommend small chunks at a time with the goal of testing to make sure it is all working steady as she goes.

I'd also recommend tackling replacers pretty early as they can be tedius. But again with install order manipulation it doesn't really matter.

I'm reading that series of essays currently. It's chock full of good info alright. Thanks for the link. I don't have a stable game at all yet. I'm going slow and trying to get a FCOM game ready to go. I'm using Tomlong75210's TESIV:Positive to learn my way through this tricky process.

I highly recommend going through the first couple of sections of Psymon's thread, especially if you are not sure about the "why" part of the package-creation process. Psymon takes the BAIN packaging business to a whole different level. All users newer to BAIN should at least read his "Basics" section...and the "Complex" packages section too.
