Cut The Bullcrap Beth/Todd

Yes, I agree, let′s not judge them for hyping the game up, I′m sure they will deliver and that it will be just like they say and show that it is.

No worries.

Heheh, that always makes me laugh. I understand, but I don't think there's any reason to worry about him saying the combat is better than Oblivion's. That's basically all he's saying. They've shown that they can improve considerably on this element of game design, It's not unreasonable to expect them to do so again.

Now, if they release game footage like that again I will certainly have my doubts. AI, god bless them, is not their forte'.

I understand its marketing but you can't expect to sell me on this bullcrap. I don't expect them to say skyrims combat won't be better than oblivion but don't tell me now that the combat in oblivion is "chopsticks" when all I heard was "visceral" five years ago.

Here this will fix your anxiety, quit playing BGS games. It will keep you from having an aneurysm and it won't crush the gaming community if we lose a few people because for every one person we lose we will get 5 or more.

Or maybe what works good 5 years ago doesn't work so well now, and must be improved. Some of you, I swear...

Hear! Hear!

The article provides a fairly good list of what has been changed and added but it could really do without all the fanfare. I also kinda wonder how much of that is Todd in promotion mode.

Thank you! Some of these people with their smarmy remarks are the same people I see moaning and whining about fast travel. How ironic!

5 years ago, with the limitations for the engine, it was as visceral as it was going to get. Now that they look back with the new tech they have they realized how silly it looks compared to what they can do now. People need to calm down and stop acting like they are entitled to everything. Just because it isn't up to the level of everything you imagine that they owe you, they don't owe you more than $60 worth of game and they always surpass that worth every time. So get over yourself.

Sigh, you seem to forget what was once top of the line years ago is small potatoes today. I remember back when Morrowind came out my mates and I were drooling over the insane amount of detail and the amazing combat. Technology changes, what was once "amazing" and "visceral" is now just plain sad. Besides if you think you could do better put your goat where your mouth is and if not then hold your tongue.

It doesn't make sense to argue that what was engaging, tactile, and visceral is no longer so. This has nothing to do with graphics or other improvements made to the hardware or technology that allow more to be done. We're still using the same input devices.

Goodness man... Of course each iteration of a game is going to be better and better. Plus, like others have said, why would he say Oblivions was still better? Personally, Oblivion felt like an amazing game to me, and I have no doubt Skyrim will be even better.

You are looking at it the wrong way, tell an artist that he′s flawless and he will never improve, judge his work according to what you feel and he will take note of your words and grow, be it for the better or the worse. People may be judging Bethesda harshly but it′s not because they dislike Bethesda and its workers, but because they′d like to see them grow as a company. Some of the greatest achievements of humanity have come by people who were under a lot of pressure.

Leave Todd alone!
Lol. Seriously though, they're not going to say that Oblivion was better than Skyrim.

Are you really complaining about this?

The combat in OB was a huge step forward from Morrowind.

And now (probably) the same for Skyrim.

Is it that hard to understand?

What happened? Huh? In the new combat article at game informer todd says "I think if you look at our previous stuff I sometimes equate it to fighting with chopsticks".

Needless to say I got a sick feeling in my stomach and couldn't help but laugh. So todd "fighting with chopsticks" was "engaging, tactile, and visceral combat" five years ago? Tell me todd. Five years ago your key word for the "new and improved combat" was "visceral". That's all I read about was how "visceral" it was. Now five years later you try to sell me on your new combat system again by calling the old one "chopsticks".

I'm supposed to believe you now? Really? Really? What a bunch of crap. Someone explain this to me please so I don't have this sick feeling anymore.

If you want to bash Bethesda as a company that is fine as long as you make sure you do it in a way that is constructive per our forums rules. You want to bash someone...anyone...on a personal level and warnings follow for flaming and that includes individual devs, Bethesda employees, moderators and other members.

If you want to make a thread just to rant about something, save your typing time because unless it offers a vehicle for improvement...it will be locked.
