Need help isolating parts from a single armor mesh

I want to isolate just the hip plate paddings on the sides but this mesh is just one model, so I am unable to accomplish this in NifSkope. This model is found in the Tribunal files under Meshes\a\a_adamantium_cuirass_c if you use the bsa exporter utility. Would somebody be able to do this for me? I'm not sure how to go about taking a one-piece model and isolating pieces from it. I would love to learn how though so I could do this to future models. But I definitely want those side plate paddings on this adamantium cuirass. Thank you.

I'm wanting to use this to add more realism to the blacksmith shop. Armor is made from pieces. It svcks that this cuirass is one whole piece. Otherwise I'd use NifSkope to remove branches.
If I could get each of those individual platings on the side too, that'd be great.

Is this something that is accomplished in Blender?

lol you guys. You know it really is very simple when you know how. But err what am I saying in this case it wasn't. Mainly because I couldn't import the mesh with the skinning. I would otherwise have had to re-rig the four plates but you can thank Chainy for fixing it via blender. But yea if the object isn't rigged(think doesn't have to bend) like weapons etc then it's usually a piece of cake.

If I could get each of those individual platings on the side too, that'd be great.

Uh oh, that's what I've been working under all along. If you meant you wanted the "plates" above that separate then sorry but those are actually textured on. The mesh could possibly be split as close to it as possible but you'd definitely still have to retexture it.

merunnin, the construction set crashes when I load the model you made. I think you may have deleted a crucial node or something. Would you be able to redo it for me? I'd really appreciate it. I really want that plate mesh. Thank you.
