Xbox Game Update

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 7:09 am

Hey. I updated a game for the 360. Now I want to get rid of it. I went into the memory and deleted the game installed on the hard drive but its still updated (I checked by running the game signed onto XBL.

Anyone know of a way to get rod of a game update?

There is a code you can use IIRC. Basically you went to the memory section and press a sequence of buttons on your controller (I can't remember the sequence, google can help). HOWEVER it may be useless now because of the lastest dashboard update.

This code rolls back all of your games updates.

Daaanng that svcks, all the games.

press Y on the hard drive to open the "Device Options" menu. Then press the following sequence of buttons: X, X, LB, RB, X, X.

sounds about right.

All games thing isn't a big deal really. Just an update next time you go on it.

I think you can just hold LB + RB + X when you start up the game.

Why would you want to get rid of an update? Just curious.

Game updates hardly take up any space. They may have 4-6 MB each update, which are usually far and few between. Not worth the trouble to uninstall them.

This might invalidate your savegames.

Alternatively, if you're up to it, you could take the HDD out of the caddy, plug it into your PC and use a homebrew XTAF partition explorer to find the update and delete it.

They fixed something in a game that I want to check out. The only reason I bought the game was for this, and I forgot and updated it lol

I was also wondering this, I updated in the middle of the game.

Would the process of using a partition explorer go against any TOS?

Not sure but it would certainly invalidate your warranty. There might be some TOS about third party downloading and installation of updates via partition explorers but I'm not sure if that'd include deleting them. After all, it's your hard disk, who's to say what you do with it!

I think it would.

Also, why would you risk it when all you have to do is this,
I think you can just hold LB + RB + X when you start up the game.

Because that's what Microsoft wants you to do, man. Don't be a conformist!

There is a setting that will erase all of the game updates, I believe it's called Clear System Cache.

There should be a thing in one of the System tabs that says something about Clear System Cache... that removes all game updates but not your current Dashboard updates.

Sivartus beat me to it...
