armor mannequins and sword racks

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 9:20 am

armor mannequins where something that i wished that we had in oblivion. when i entered my house i wanted to see my accumulated gear from level 1 to level 50 arranged on dummy's. but in oblivion the best i could do was stack it in a corner. so i propose a simple system. re-skin an npc make it totally invulnerable.
allow the player to pick up and drop it anywhere he/she wants make the dummy the same gender as the player when armor is placed in the dummy npc's inventory it appears on the dummy like it wold on you. as for weapon racks the ones in oblivion where far to difficult to place weapons on :banghead: and could not be placed any where els. so make them like the sunset sasparila boxes in fallout new vagas except when a weapon is placed in it said weapon appears on the rack. so with thees 2 devices your house could become completely unique to the player. if any one has any more thoughts on this or other house customization i wold be glad to hear it.

I had a thread like this a while back. Good to see someone keeping the dream alive. I always hated that we didn't have good display options in Oblivion. You get so much cool gear through the faction quests that you need a place to display it all in. I would make my characters dressed up like the Gray Fox, a Black Hand member, the Arch Mage, even Umbra.

I agree, having mannequins and racks would be good. If not, I'm sure there will be soon a mod for it in case Bethesda isn't doing that.

Also I'd like to see some ability to arrange books in a bookshelf. In Morrowind there was a small mod called "book rotate" which enabled the PC to put books in different arrangements (closed, open, staying up or laying down).

Yeah, I'd love to have that at launch. Mannequins and weapon racks are usually among the first things to be modded in, but it would be cool to have the option at launch and on consoles for those who can't use mods. If you look at the amount of people who used the mannequin mods for Morrowind and Oblivion there's obviously a demand for it, even Fallout 3 had some mannequins if I remember correctly, so it's obviously something people would like to see.

The display cases were buggy and just didn't look good, not to mention ill fitting giving the setting. I would much prefer to hang weapons/shields on the wall and put suits of armor on mannequins.

my question is who wouldn't want these?

I think better placement for items in general would be much desired for me. the physics based placement in oblivion was a little too difficult to place things where I wanted them and if I accidently kicked one it flew across the room.

This is something I liked in morrowind (which is rare for me because I think oblivion had better gameplay) where I would create mosaics of gems and treasure vaults filled with gold. I hope that becomes more the standard for Item placement.

As long as they are an optional, purchasable addition and not standard / included in another house upgrade. I don't necessarily want it all the time on all my characters in all my houses.

Yes! Also I wish the size of houses could be expanded in time for my increased amount of loot.

I would enjoy if training dummies (the ones with arms that spin and can strike you back) were in the game. Strike, block, strike, block, etc. If you fail to block then you'll get smacked on your butt.

I think it'd be nice if you could use crafting items in your inventory to upgrade player-owned containers, such as chests and bags, to give them additional space. They'd look cooler too. :P

You can, it's called the contruction set :P

That's why I always make my own player home, that way I can get it just the way I want it. Just a simple little house with everything I need and not much more.

I am betting that some of the stuff we have been voting on will be either in the game or included with DLC/Expansions. I really hope also that they come out with decent size DLC rather then little garbage for 10 bucks a pop. I would rather pay 30 or 40 bucks for a big expansion.
