Go away, LOD trees!

So I've been having some issues with LOD in my Fallout 3 mod.

I finally managed to generate the landscape LOD to my liking, but now I'm having issues with floating LOD trees, as seen http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m43/danburite/ScreenShot0-2.jpg. I decided to build a metro station where some trees were, but no matter how many times I generate the LOD trees, the bastards won't go away!

Additionally there's a LOD building (no idea if this is even the right term, but hopefully you get what I mean!) behind the player in the above screenshot, which used to accompany a regular building. I deleted the building, but its LOD remains... until I go into a building and then go outside again. Unfortunately, the same trick doesn't work with the trees!

So, is there any way I can permanently get rid of the floating trees and the building once and for all?

You MUST delete the current tree LOD files BEFORE you generate the tree LOD.

\Fallout 3\Data\Meshes\landscape\lod\Wasteland\Trees\*.*

NOTE: Deleting vanilla object can cause the game to CTD. Its best to either drop the objects below the landscape or set them to 'initially disabled'.

Thanks, so I ended up setting all my deleted stuff to "ignore" and then moved the trees/buildings underground. Worked like a charm! :)

So, when I upload it online, do I need to package the LOD files? (I'm assuming the land one goes without saying, but what about the tree ones?)

If you regenerated the LOD for that area, then yes. If not, then no. With all mods, you only need to include files if they are not present or have changed in the original game. Moving objects doesn't qualify.

I changed the LOD trees in one cell only.

I then moved half the LOD files at a time to a backup folder and looked at it in game. If the LOD was updated, I knew the LOD tree files I removed were not needed. I continued 'halfing' my files until I found the one LOD tree file that I needed.

Thie one file will be included in my download for the mod.
