Which should i buy?

Also with that logic The Elder Scrolls Morrowind is the greatest game in the history of the universe., which is simply untrue.

Morrowind is cheaper and deeper but lacks a strong core of gameplay enjoyment, Oblivion is more expensive but more fun on a minute to minute basis and lacking in the depth and lore as compared to Morrowind. It's all a matter of taste.

QFT. That argument is now settled... Now let's all hope they combine these two ideals into on TES V....

I'd buy Morrowind, more weapon types, skills, and deeper story.

Plus you can't spell ObliviOn so I don't think you're ready for that one.

You'll have more game time with MW too if you are looking for length of play.

That's your opinion, if I say Morrowind is the greatest game in history then it is in my world.

And whoever said gameplay isn't important is obviously wrong, the gameplay makes the game. Without gameplay there's no game therefore you can't say gameplay isn't important.

Oblivion: Basically if you like FPS and RPGs, this is the game for you.
Morrowind: If you like RPGs, and beleive in character development, not being the level 1 god of uberness, then this if for you.

Or we could not debate Oblivion and Morrowind and answer the question as it was asked:
I want to get a new game similar to fallout, which should i go for, morrowind or oblivian? i am undecided at the moment

Strictly in terms of being the most similar to Fallout 3, Oblivion is the winner. If we had something to go on other than similarity to Fallout, then yes, the outcome might be different. However, between Oblivion and Morrowind in a contest of similarity to Fallout, Oblivion wins. Period.

Except it's nowhere near that clearly defined. For example, I find that, game mechanics and similar engine aside, the atmosphere and feel of FO3 remind me far more of Morrowind moreso than Oblivion, and those are things that are just as important to a game as mechanics and engine.

As said earlier, it's a matter of WHY he likes Fallout 3. If it's for the character development and learning about the "world", then MW is the clear winner. If it's for the combat and animations, then OB comes out on top. FO3 is probably a bit closer to OB than to MW, but it all boils down to that FPS versus RPG playing style issue again.

Morrowind is better than Oblivion right out of the box.

Oblivion is better than Morrowind with a few mods.

So it depends on whether you plan to mod it.

You'll find moving to Morrowind, REALLY HARD!

Amen.
Morrowind if you enjoy the roleplay thrown at you
Oblivion if you prefer a blank Canvas to mod and make you're own roleplay. I actually will change time periods in oblivion

MW is too old to run well on most systems. at least on the 360. so get OB cause its newer, which is pretty much the only reason.
