Updating a Mod

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 12:28 am

Hey,

I'm currently making a house mod, and in one of my savegames I have used this house to store some of my items. However, now I want to update the mod, but moving around any of my containers seems to mess up the house in the savegame somewhat.

Is there a way to update the mod without messing up the savegame? For instance, if I first empty all of the containers in-game and then update the mod, will this work?

Thanks,

Danjb

Yep, you'll need to clean your save. This is how it's done:

  • Remove all items from the containers.
  • Go to a vanilla area.
  • Save you game to a new slot and exit the game.
  • Open the mod manager of your choice and unload the plugin from your game.
  • Start the game, load your last save, and then save it again to a new slot. This will be your 'clean' save.
  • Exit the game, install the update, and then enable it in your mod manager.
  • After starting the game, load your clean save. This will help the game get rid of any leftover records.

And if you still get issues afterwards, use Wrye Mash to repair your clean save.
