Handling weapons!

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 1:37 pm

since we can dual wield I wish to ask if anyone has any clues about the "way" we are to handle the weapons?

what I mean is that the weapons in OB and MW in 1st person always looks awkward and lame, will it be the case this time in Skyrim?

will we hold daggers for example in a cool way (like dark messiah for example one with hilt pointing up and the other with hilt pointing to one side .... like this http://www.google.cz/imgres?imgurl=http://pcmedia.ign.com/pc/image/article/742/742365/dark-messiah-of-might-magic-20061027053806802-000.jpg&imgrefurl=http://pc.ign.com/articles/742/742365p1.html&usg=__XwvMmUrZMBgeUNtRw1iVxXMy-1o=&h=384&w=480&sz=164&hl=cs&start=26&zoom=1&tbnid=7gBvMSheWwLzbM:&tbnh=151&tbnw=189&ei=Z-M8TYzXDMH-4Abe_emRCg&prev=/images%3Fq%3Ddark%2Bmessiah%2Bdaggers%26hl%3Dcs%26biw%3D1680%26bih%3D835%26tbs%3Disch:10%2C651&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=611&vpy=374&dur=451&hovh=151&hovw=189&tx=81&ty=114&oei=LeM8Td6fF5GWOtrSkIEL&esq=5&page=2&ndsp=29&ved=1t:429,r:10,s:26&biw=1680&bih=835)

or will we hold weapons like we just had a Lobotomy :(

edit: here is another nice link http://www.google.cz/imgres?imgurl=http://www.waterdeepmud.com/img_wd/class_mercenary.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.roleplaygateway.com/the-six-rings-open-t21882.html&usg=__XriKp-z3odlKQxJjS68VC9SXDEk=&h=356&w=300&sz=27&hl=cs&start=178&zoom=1&tbnid=cy4Lf1hq6qnLkM:&tbnh=170&tbnw=144&ei=IeQ8TfrIHIG04gbZl-W0Cg&prev=/images%3Fq%3Ddark%2Bmessiah%2Bdaggers%26hl%3Dcs%26biw%3D1680%26bih%3D835%26tbs%3Disch:10%2C4255&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=160&vpy=199&dur=135&hovh=182&hovw=153&tx=63&ty=145&oei=LeM8Td6fF5GWOtrSkIEL&esq=9&page=7&ndsp=34&ved=1t:429,r:0,s:178&biw=1680&bih=835
such a nice weapon handling stance < no idea what to call it :P

I think that mace looks kind of lame. In real life, having those blades attached to wooden struts like that would be extremely fragile, compared to a socketed head or even just straight into the handle.

Also, mace doesn't mean "a bunch of tiny axe heads" which is exactly what that looks like. Those are blades, which do not belong on a mace. Maces are either blunt, studded, or spiked. With a weapon like that, you basically get all of the negatives of an axe without the any of the advantages.

I think the elven mace in Oblivion had blades as well. Still stupid though.

I think those struts may be Dwemer metal. Also the blades seem like the next step from the concept of a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flanged_mace.

im going to assume that you will be able to control each weapon differently. And you would be able to attack with 2 weapons at once. Thats just my terrible guess but anyways our next update will be on combat :)

It's not attached to wooden struts, that's all metal. Look at it again, it's a sweet looking dwemer (mace?).

roleplaying doesn't need to be, and perhaps shouldn't be, actively enforced in a single player open-world game.

When it ceases to be enforced the TES will cease to be an Action/ RPG and will become just an Action Game.

Still stupid though.

Just goes to show that the average person knows very little about weaponry.
Here, tear Tolkien a new one too for stupid depiction of a mace. :shakehead:

Dunno about looking cool. I think it looks cool when it looks realistic.

And anyone that quoted them needs to remove them too.

Not sure about that. The arm looks bent or broken?

I don't know about you guys but I can put my arm in pretty much the same position I am slightly double jointed though so that may have something to do with it.
