I just started the House of Telvanni and I must retrieve the Staff of the Silver Dawn. Arielle Phiencel the keeper of the staff wont
even dialog with me. Straight up good bye! I thought about heading across the street to purchase a charm spell from Erer Darothril
at the Dirty Muriel's Cornerclub which by the way is more than my poor broke Dunmer can afford, or even wants to shell out.
Besides, her illusion skill to cast this is a misc. skill @ level 5. My casting chance is zero and the magicka cost is more than
I can cast. Wow. I've never been in a predicament like this with a new character. I made a rule not to steal or exploit money
with this character. I believe there are two types of charm scrolls in the game but I considered that a cheat if I was told
where it was. I set rules not to train either. I wanted to keep this character as honest as possible but I'm already asking
questions here. Any ideas?

You're pretty well screwed.

Join the Mages Guild and work on their quests (if you can.) You'll gain faction-wide disposition boosts (at the cost of some Telvanni disposition.) She'll talk to you- eventually.

Never thought of that. I never had that planned in the RP but since my illusion is a misc. skill and there are no
charm potions, I guess that my only option. Unless I could find one of those charm scrolls. I wonder if I can
can get my personality fortified enough to make dialog? Thanks for the idea!

uhm aint she supposed to talk to you anyway ? she does with me anyhow.
with low disposition you could try some fortify personality-potions and see if that helps ?
Iirc asking about the staff to the other mages guild menbers there (at wolverine hall) directs you to her,skink among others does that.

OK, believe it or not I tried a scroll of Frenzy Humanoid and she took the bait without a fight and opened up dialog.
Then with a little bribe and of coarse the 300 drakes i got the staff. Yippee!

Yes jaxawier, I did approach all the other mages, and it didn't work. My personality is 45 and speechcraft only 7.
Apparently that wasn't good enough. Well that and being an enemy of the faction didn't help. Thanks!

You could have also (probably) opened up a dialogue by being naked when you tried to talk to her.
