Just bought Oblivion on 360

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 12:01 am

So I just purchased Oblivion for the 3rd time. I just started it up yesterday after transferring a save from PC so I can play as a dremora and I immediately notice how painfully long the loading times are. On PS3 the loading is 1-2 minutes and PC it is 10s-1 minute. Also I noticed the graphics are worse and it does not seem to be as "HD" as the PS3 version even though both are running at 720p. Obviously I am comparing the 360 and PS3 versions the PC one is obviously the best. Anyway I do not really care about graphics, I will still enjoy modding and achievement hunting this game.

No man its not a waste of money. I have 30 copies of the game myself. Yeah I've noticed the 360 one is inferior also.

If your talking about the graphics of Oblivion remember that its from 2006 so the game is going to not look as good as it did a long time ago. As for loading times ingame at least on Xbox 360 you can install the game to hardrive and the times are halfed+Graphics is always going to be best on the PC.

I know that. The game looks good on my PS3 and PC(obviously) but on 360 it looks blurry and gross. I'm running it on the same TV using the same HDMI and its also running on 720p resolution just like the PS3. I think there is something wrong my 360 seems to not be as sharp and clear as my PS3 even in games that the 360 version should look better.

I've got a HD TV and a HDMI cable for my Xbox, and it looks lovely....better than my PC could do, anyway.

I think its just my [censored] tv's fault. Weird it only makes my 360 games look blurry.

There WAS a difference between the PS3 and 360 version in terms of higher resolution textures however I think this got sorted due to a patch? Or was that something to do with the LOD, I honestly can't remember was such a long time ago. However, I think its a superb looking even to this day regardless of the platform and you will have a great time playing it : )

Watch out for Umbra, she hurts.

Yeah it did get sorted out by a patch but the PS3 version still uses better texturing filters and has better distant textures. Anyway this is not what I am talking about. Its my TV, it has to be theres no way the 360 version is that ugly in comparison.

Well note that the ps3 version came out basically a year after the 360 launch. You'd expect some optimizations and improvements on that front. Aside from those minor differences barring PC graphics and Mods all versions are basically the same.

I know that. Theres something wrong with my TV it makes the 360 Oblivion look like a PS2 game. I have a Daenyx 19 inch HDTV and it seems like my 360 is very blurry on it. I have it set to 720p, I tried 1080i but it looks the same. For some reason I can't run 1080p on 360 but it works fine on PS3. I will try my 360 my PC monitor and the 40 inch Sony Bravia and see if it looks different.

Ah. Well I couldn't exactly answer that. Hopefully someone knowledgable can help you. Yes this is basically a bump. At what does Oblivion natively run on the 360 version anyways? Edit: 1024x600 apparentlt whereas PS3 runs at a full 720p. Far as I figure it's looked fine on my Sony Bravia. Although I don't actually own Oblivion.
