Guide To... Replacer shenanigans

Hi,

I need some advice on removing http://www.elricm.com/nuke/html/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=viewdownloaddetails&lid=545. The readme claims that it doesn't affect saved games, but I'm having trouble and I want to make sure my save isn't screwed up.

When I uninstall the mod and load a saved game, I get a ton of error messages about missing scripts on the guides in my inventory and the ones in merchants' inventories. I only activated one placed guide while I was using the mod, and when I try to activate that item after uninstall nothing happens. I can't read or take it. Dropping any of the guides in my inventory and activating them shows the usual scroll interface.

How do I remove this mod properly?

This is because the items in your save game (from this mod) are not in your active plug-ins because you've removed them. You need to clean your save with Wrye Mash. You should also be using the MCP as this will greatly enhance stability when altering your loaded mods.

It actually only edits a few existing book records. It adds a script to them. I just don't understand what's still blocking that one scroll from being activated. I did try Repair All in Mash, and it only found a few leftover globals from another mod. I am using MCP.

Success. I opened the console, selected the scroll, and typed Activate. The scroll interface popped up with a Close button but no Take button. Then, after closing the console, I could activate it normally and the Take button was there. I could pick it up as usual.
