The soldiers shield ability

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 10:11 am

I was reading through the Brink Bible and it said talked about the soldiers shield ability and also the 24 hour trial period for abilities. I could have sworn I read on this forum that those things have been taken out. Is the brink bible wrong or am I just mistaken? Are there other inaccuracies in the Brink Bible I should know about?

Both have been removed, yes.

If new information comes up, H0RSE usually includes it in an update.

Yea in his latest update he put that the shield ability had been gotten rid of. Seems like he doesn't update the older stuff but just adds new in updates.

Thanks for the quick responses guys. So, should I only trust what I read here on the forums and Horse's Brink Compendium Update Two (Post Pax East11)?

You should take a look at the new interviews too. I was reading through one and Richard Ham announced that you cannot leave the game idle anymore and let the bot take over because they weren't quite sure how to do that.

Makes me wonder how Valve was able to do that for L4D and L4D2.

The AI survivors did nothing more than follow the player and shoot zombies. Sure, they did that with fair excellance, but that was all they were meant to do.

Brink's AI's have to attack objectives which are always changing, protect teammates, shoot enemies, avoid bullets, use cover / tools - My point being Brink's AI is probably more advanced and you can't just plop it anywhere.

That's why you read it all the way through, updates are there for a reason.

But if you have AI teammates for running a mission I thought they would step up? Wasn't there a comment about people having a hard time figuring out who was a person and who was an AI on their team? Or if solo will you have run back to the CP and change class every time a new objective comes up?

Yes bots have repeatedly been mistaken for human players. They will do objectives and support you.
