Character Voice

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 4:44 pm

Does anyone know of a way to turn off the player's voice during fights? My Breton makes the most annoying noises in the middle of fights and I really can't stand to hear it. Problem is, I don't want to turn down the volume on all the voices in game. Has anyone else found a way to deal with this?

Have you tried looking for a mod? There might be one that turns it off or one that replaces the breton voices in the game. Of course this only applies if you're playing the PC version.

That's the only way I can think of to fix it, since the only other way to not hear the player character's voice at all would be to turn off all voices in the game. Other than that, if you don't like the Breton voices, I guess the only other solution would be to start a new character with a different race, and you probably don't want to start all over just so you don't have to listen to a specific voice, especially not if you've been playing this character for a while.

Or you could access the bretons' male voice files and change them to your liking!

Most people here will agree with you on the high-pitched squeal the male breton makes when he is hit. It sounds similar to a wilhelm scream. If you go thru the voice files, and listen to them to figure out which one it is and you replace it with another (same name, different sound) then it will remedy this.

Good God yes...I think I will do some file swapping right now. The female Breton is annoying as well. Good subject.

Easily done. Just grab you a scream sound you do like from one of the folders in MW/data file/sounds/vo.
Of coarse the Breton scream is vo/b/m/Hit_BM001, so find one you like. Example, Hit_RM001 sound better.
BUT, importantly, in the MP3 properties of you new sound, give it the male Breton track name of Hit_BM001.
Save the original in a folder somewhere or delete it. If for some silly reason you want it back you can find
the original sounds on your disk. So simple to do.

There is a mod that replaces male breton voices at planetelderscrolls.

Okay, this is all good news. I really just couldn't deal with it anymore. Kinda like nails on a chalkboard. Thanks for the tips.

Just pick another race. Nobody cares about Bretons anyway.

Or, stop getting hit so much.

Bretons are the magical kings. No other race has an inherently higher level of Intelligence AND Willpower. :meh:

Stop getting hit so much is a better idea.
