Daggerfall: Veteran Tips for Beginners #2

Well, I was wrong about the gold,I must have been thinking of letters of credit, although I nevr put even those in my cart, prefer to keep them close to my chest! Certainly if you want to store enchanted items the cart is very suitable, after all, it will hold 750 in weight! As to regular armour, that is a little silly, if you don't mind me saying! I mean any armour is going to be found in dungeons and in stores throughout the game, and later on you will be able to buy whole sets of armour for your bought home!

Mr. Muh:

Don't forget that you can also take out a loan at the bank (the size of the loan is related to your level) if you want to buy one of those expensive boats or houses. The need to pay off your loan is a great incentive for further adventuring.

Or if you're the dishonest sort, go to a two-bit little kingdom nobody cares about like Pothago, take out a huge loan, leave and never come back to pay it. Who's gonna know? :D

On a random side note, I noticed if you jump off the little ship and take a horse southeast for a while you can find the big ship! Makes me wonder if you can then get your stuff back easily if you forget to move it before upgrading ships.

Why won't any innkeepers talk to me? I mean every innkeeper in Daggerfall? My Mage Guild is happy with me, I haven't really taken enough innkeeper quests to have failed enough to have this reaction and i am listed as a 'common citizen' legally as I don't break the law. Am I going to have to increase my personality stat even though it's already 58?

For 1 in 3 characters i played i usually got bad responses and insults when talking to innkeepers. They will always sell you a room however. Don't know if liking the player or not affects the room they give. I usually get very small cubicles to rest in, when they don't like my character.

Oh no, they'll giveme a room, no problem, or sell me food and drink.I meant choosing 'talk' as an option to possibly get a quest.

Actually, if you've been arrested by the guards several times, there's a chance of your legal reputation ("in the eyes of the law of _____") breaking and going to a ridiculous number like -791463. In which case, not only will everyone hate you, but it'll take an eternity for that reputation to break even at 0 again.

Coincidentally I made a http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=922240&hl= about this some time ago. Turns out our buddy Ferital made a program that can let you negate this. His program, Dagrep can be downloaded http://www.uesp.net/w/images/Dagrep.zip.

NOTE: This is only in the event your reputation is indeed broken and has plummeted to some ridiculous number. If it's something like -4, it'd be more fun to wait it out and do quests to redeem yourself. :)
