Getting owned in daggerfall all of a sudden.

Ever since I reached like level 9, any monster who can use magic can paralyze me for like 2 minutes and instantly kill me... This normal?! It's mainly the spellsword guys. They are even stronger than Liches to me now.

Daggerfall is, to an extent, level scaled like Oblivion. The difference is you can find high leveled creatures at low levels and low leveled creatures at high levels as well as random loot and quests. So don't level up to quickly. May I recommend using an Altmer next time?

Magic resistance depends on your Will, so put some points into that or find some magic items that enhance it. Spell absorption and reflection wouldn't hurt, either.

will is 100 and i don't have the magicka to cast magic reflection or absorption.. Only resistance, which does squat.

I resist quite a bit if that is what "save something spell"(?). But it's like these guys spam it like 1 spell per sec. And if they start off with paralyze, im done.

Daggerfall had a problem where all spell casters would spam you in less than a second. There are two solutions to that, aside from casting spells. They all involve more than going melee only though.

You can use potions if you have access to them. They are fairly cheap. I don't remember the potion name, but its "free something", free form, free shape, something like that lol. Ah just remembered it!! Its free action. Free action actually is a fairly expensive spell and unless if you ARE a mage, chances are you will be relying on potions. I highly recomend you get access to potions somehow because they make life MUCH easier.

You can quest until you find a free action magic item. Thats totally random and unreliable sadly.

You can use a bow and kill em from a distance. Most spell casters only paralyse you if you are up close. Liches like to paralyse from a distance, so watch out.

I got free action, but i only have 250 magicka and it costs around 500ish I think.

Is this a bug? They do like 2 spells a second. It's not effecting the Liches, which makes them easier...

Make a cheap spell of free action. It not only works when you're already paralyzed, but will also prevent paralysis spells from working on you (most of the time).

Or buy an item from the mages guild that casts free action.

I now have a free action spell that only costs 6 points, so im good with that now. But they still seem to spam spells at a retarded rate and can kill me in 2 seconds.

The whole spell thing in Daggerfall is out of whack as far as I am concerned. how spell points are given at character start, how spell points are added, how stats affect spellpoints and how much spells cost to use in spellpoints.

I am at level 3 and am now facing skeletons that can now defeat me,. and have a lesser Deadra in one dungeon that you need Mithrel to hurt!

Spell absorption really helps. For me, it's the only way I can even stand a chance of not being instakilled by vampire ancients.

The best way to take down skeletons is with a blunt weapon. Any other weapon has a damage penalty against them.
