Daggerfall installation problem

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 12:12 pm

Hi, and thanks even for just looking.

I followed the instructions from the official installation instructions exactly, but I missed 19 (the patch) so I quit dosbox and did the first four steps

•mount c c:\dosgames -freesize 1000
•mount d c:\dosgames\dfcd -t cdrom -label Daggerfall
•c:
•cd\dagger

So I had C:\Dagger> or something similar

I did step 19 (typed in dag213) and it installed the patch fine, so i went ahead and typed dagger to start the game.

Then it said something along the lines of

Critical Error. Please delete the (something, directory I think) and reinstall.

I'll find out exactly what it said in a minute, but I'm not sure if its needed to help me fix the problem. I'm also 99% sure it won't help, but I didn't name my folder dosgames, I named it Newfolder.

I'm usually at least decent at fixing computer problems and can usually fix things myself, but I'm nearly clueless when it comes to DOS.

Its already installed and patched, just unplayable.

You might want to try re-patching/installing the game. If it still gives you the same problem then your download is likely corrupt (not at all the first time this has happened with a download from Bethesda's servers). If this is the case, try downloading it from somewhere else like Fileshack or Filefront.
