I'm doing a generic exorcism quest for a temple (The Order of the Hour) and when I talk to the lady in the tavern who replaced the guardian's spot, she tells me that the child's guardian ran off with the religious item. Usually this person tells me that the guardian has gone to "so-and-so's residence" but this time she said the guardian went to my house, as in she said the guardian went off to "(character name's) house". Thing is, I don't even have a house. And now no one in town has the option for the guardian's name under the 'people' section. I tried reloading and doing it again, but the same thing happened. So basically I have no idea where the child's guardian went with the religious item.

Well, are you sure that your name does not coincidence with a name of a NPC? If so, try checking the Location and General sub-menus in dialogue. Maybe it will appear there. Good luck.

I highly doubt it, as I'm an Argonian named Wolf-in-Moon's-Light. BUt I suppose it can't hurt to try.

Okay, try the sub-menus and tell us if it was there. If not, then maybe someone who has experienced something similiar can help, I never encountered something like that.

EDIT: Something came to my mind, there are some cities in which you can buy houses, so it could have gone there, but since you mentioned you never actually had a house, I have no idea if it's not this.

I remember this bug being discussed before, but I can't remember what the solution was. From memory, most people abandoned the quest. I think if you keep asking around about the quest you will be given a dungeon location.

I just abandoned the quest. Went and did a couple mage guild quests, came back to the temple and got another quest with no apparent difficulties from my previous failure. It seems like the game forgot I was on a quest at all.
