[REQ] Blunt Weapons

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 6:06 am

I'm currently adding all the high quality weapons I can find (and can get permission for) to the leveled list of Francesco. I also remove low quality weapons from the lists. Unfortunately most of the low quality stuff in Francesco's is in the blunt category. And there is a serious lack of custom blunt weapons so I have nearly nothing to replace them with. I browsed through TESNexus to find every single quality blunt weapon I could find, but there aren't many it seems.

If you know any good blunt weapon mods that I might have missed I would appreciate a link.

Here is what I have so far:

Every blunt weapon from Nicoroshi I could find
The few blunt weapons that were in the Real Swords modules by Waalx
Most of the weapons from Andragorn (Shadow packs, Andragorn's weapons and armors)
LSB Rune Weapons by various authors (fixed by me)
Blunt weapons from Jojjo's Dread Knight Weapons

Not sure about Loth's blunt weapons, have to look at them in game or Nifskope. Don't have permission for those yet anyway.
Looked at the weapons from Morrigan's weapons (by Jojjo), but they look to clean for my taste.

I also remade some of the ugly weapons in Fran's from scratch, but it takes a long time to do that for all the low quality weapons I want to remove.

Anything that was released before May 2007 is irrelevant btw since it is most likely already in the mod.

Thanks (I hope)!

EDIT: Oh, and I'm not looking for recolors or simple retextures. Either very high quality retextures made from scratch or new meshes.

Funny, I was looking for some good blunt weapons for my personal weapons compilation recently.
So, in addition to what you've already got http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=20813 , which is quiet nicely looking.

only 4 votes (currently) and it's showing that for every 4 people 3/1 do not like blunt....that sort of prooves why there are less blunt weapons.

I had a mod long ago that added Scythe's there were considered blunt (go figure)

sixy is sleek, sharp and fast. Maybe a little mysterious. Blunt is not sixy. Blunt is blocky, dull and slow with all the intrigue of a brick.

Sure, but if you're into slow, powerful, straight forward and bulky.
I think it might have a kind of flair.

These Kanabou, for example, were originally http://www.yaegaki-kai.be/pics/divers/06.jpg of wood or iron, that took immense power, concentration and knowledge to wield. http://www.baxleystamps.com/litho/ogawa/ogawa_mil_11-1.jpg to deliver http://www.yorku.ca/kendo/cgi-bin/board/id/Kendo/files/ilu_nyoibo.jpg, that had to be with absolute precision and tactic, as not to miss and be the victim of the memento put into the blow.
Pretty intriguing, no?:)

that is.
I can say there are a few intriguing blunt weapons...even sometimes the stale old axe can be intresting.

Bluky, slow, but beastly looking, the Doom Axe from Hentai Mania is amazing! It is so big....I can't even explain the size of this axe, but it is fun to bash people with sometimes. too bad it is swung so slow, but I suppose Hentai just wanted it to be realistic.

I can understand not having a lot of good maces/warhammers, but I'd have thought axes and battleaxes would be somewhat more popular.

Has anyone made the Doomhammer from Warcraft Lore for Oblivion?

if it would amount to any worth here, I'd be willing to make a set of HQ blunts (pun intended) or if not that I would atleast make one...however I do not have quite enough knowledge. I can do the modeling part, but not the rigging or texturing.

you have my permission, but you should ask Jdfan just to be on safe side.

There really is a lacking of blunt weapons once again when it comes to mod's. Plenty of Swords and Bows out there not many blunt weapons mods once again.

And most fhtem you already have listed..Those that add alot that is.

I would say Armamentarium and Artifacts has those add alot of blunt weapons, but, they are just retextures, there maybe a few new meshes, but, most of it is vanilla retextures once again.

I see tons of swords...but not as many bows as you make it sound.
well...I mean, I see a lot of bows, but their general design and structure seems the same as the next one over. I have seen maybe 4 REALLY intresting and appealing bows.

I know vanilla OB tosses axes into the blunt category- and I don't know if you do. But in any case, I'll mention http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=23992. Includes a two-handed axe, and a staff that I think can be used for clobbering miscreants. Could be wrong though.

Some snappy bows here as well.

I think they look a bit clumsy, but following your link below it seems something like that exists in real life. Thanks for the link, I guess I'll have a look at them in game to see whether I'll add them or not.

Probably TDA's Scythe mod. That one is already in by default since it's pretty old.

if it would amount to any worth here, I'd be willing to make a set of HQ blunts (pun intended) or if not that I would atleast make one...however I do not have quite enough knowledge. I can do the modeling part, but not the rigging or texturing.

UV mapping and texturing is by far the most time consuming thing unfortunately. Especially for weapons. I could make twenty weapons a day if someone else made the rest. :P

Thanks! Yes, I think Armamentarium and Artifacts has mostly recolors. I might see whether there are any really new weapons inside, but I guess I won't download a gazillion gigabytes for just one weapon. Too bad, Trollf is really a great modeler (love his Junkyard). The Mount & Blade weapons are pretty low quality unfortunately since M&B is not quite up to Oblivion standards regarding graphics.

So far I added about 170 weapons to Fran's. I'd say ~130 of them are blade weapons, 10 are bows and 30 are blunt weapons. That shows what people prefer I guess. If you're looking for interesting bows you might want to look at Nicoroshi's mods.

EDIT: Thanks, Greenwarden. The meshes have a really high quality, but they might be a bit too cartoony for my taste. But the axe could go through as a magic high level axe I guess.

Hel Borne has released some excellent weapon resources. The only download links I know of are these:

http://www.egg-of-time.us/portal/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=962:hel-bornes-ausruestung-in-morrowind-stil&catid=37:ressourcen-und-replacer&Itemid=54
This includes the Morrowind-style Dwemer weapons, which are really great (especially the axes and hammers!), and a nice wooden staff - which is a kind of blunt weapon that is sorely missing in Oblivion. I don't want to advertise my own mods here, but I think the Dwemer weapons look especially good with my http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15314.

http://www.egg-of-time.us/portal/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=964:hel-bornes-sonstige-ausruestungs-resourcen&catid=37:ressourcen-und-replacer&Itemid=54
Includes at least two very cool axes, check the screenshots.

http://www.egg-of-time.us/portal/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=960:hel-bornes-waffen-sets&catid=37:ressourcen-und-replacer&Itemid=54 (yes I'm only loosely translating the German titles)
Includes some more staff weapons and halberd-like weapons.

By the way, I think blunt weapons are sixy, but Oblivion's blunt weapons aren't. I'm particularly fond of a scene of Polanski's "Macbeth", right at the beginning on the battlefield, where Macbeth repeatedly smashes his mace into the body of an enemy... you don't get more medieval than that.

Hey, thanks, thought Helborne had taken down all his mods. Since they're resources I'll use them for sure. Great work on your textures as well! So I guess I can use them (permission )?

Oh, I didn't know of those weapon recourse sets, nice!:)

Which reminds me of the http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=13567 set which isn't listed there.
Which features a mace, scepter, http://downloads.egg-of-time.us/obli/replacer/images/Waffen-Schwarzeisen/HB_WSchwarzeisen_3b.jpg, hand axe and long http://downloads.egg-of-time.us/obli/replacer/images/Waffen-Schwarzeisen/HB_WSchwarzeisen_6b.jpg as blunt weapons.
Lovely stuff.:)

Edit: Yes, the Kanabo is clumsy, but its damage should make up for it. Don't know how useful it would be in game, but I'll see. Battlestaffs work nicely in OOO.

Yes you can use them, Phitt. I must have forgotten to explicitly mention that in the description, but those textures are resources. Glad you like them. :)

I <3 resources ^_^

I use resources in my mods a lot, since a vanilla weapon as an award doesn't seem to be worth anything on the PC version of Oblivion.

I will keep my eyes peeled for any blunt weapons you may have missed...but I don't know how much luck I will have.

Have you considered trying the weapons from Apachii Goddess Store? they have a TON of awesome weapons, and I would not doubt if they have a few blunts.

I have never really liked Blunt Weapons, always concidered them Brutish. As I play as a stealth char. with a short blade, my PC is more brains than brawn, anyone who sues blund is all Brawn.
