spawning infront of vault 101

http://www.fallout3n...ile.php?id=9919 this mod ruined everthing about my game as soon as i start my game i start infront of 101 with nothing no weapons, no clothes, no quests, nothing. so i unistalled the mod and its still happening i know for sure its that mod please help please i beg you!

Well I'm likely never going to touch that mod but it sounds as if there is either a serious bug and I would recommend a new game if not invested in the current one -or- people are missing an important uninstall step.

Likely you may have to re-install some F3 components - I would definitely contact the author.

Doesn't sound that useful to me - why use it? Fallout 3 stutter remover has a fast exit with ini save too and none of these issues.

im very invested in the current playthrough im on but the mod needed fose and it the time i didnt have so i uninstalled the mod but the effect is still happening

Problem is, when you Spawn in front of Vault 101 with no equipment or quests, then you have a corrupted save. No matter what caused it. The only recourse is to load an earlier save. Reloading the existing save, even without the mod that you think caused this will not fix this. There are no utilities that will clean a save.

Few more tidbits, always, I mean always, even if everyone says it is a good mod, make a forked save when loading any new mod. Never work off of an existing save. To further protect yourself, make the forked save before you even install the mod. The usual method of loading the last save after you have installed the mod and then creating a new Save Slot should be enough, but....

Having a Forked Save will allow you to load up a pre-mod save that should not have any issues from the mod you installed. Assuming you remove the offending mod.

The other reason saves corrupt, which also could be the issue here, is writing over the save slot too many times, loading an Autosave or Quicksave (which are not complete saves). To that end, I don't overwrite a save slot more than 5 to 10 times. I can always delete the extra ones, but I can not recover from a corrupted save.

i almost never overwright saves and when i reload a save it looks like its going to work but then i spawns me back infront of vault 101 :cryvaultboy:

interesting I didn't know that about F3 regarding showing up out of Vault 101.

I'm not sure about forked saves but I always make 3 saves with my working load order then add mods only to one of those saves (with a new save) then after testing and such may go back and delete at least one of the older saves. Each character with Oblivion and F3 have hundreds of saves.

If it is an OBSE plugin then it may have created a file somewhere of perhaps it overwrote an F3 component.

I have a hard time believing the OP came here to ask for help but no posts on Nexus??? I'd go to the source first.

Are you saying you have no saves prior to adding this esp?

Not wise.

I don't recommend adding tons of esp at once and to test each out as individually as you can.

try regenerating your F3 ini.

[edit] if you use Gary Bash you could also try removing the esp as a master in the saves tab then saving the save.
So yeah it isn't true that there are no save editing programs, but even so Gary Bash would not be extensive in that regard.

i have near 300 saves before adding the esp but when i choose to reload them it still spawns me infront of vault 101 also how would i regenerate my ini. ?

Does it do this with a new character?

Since the Mod is only a single ESP, then it should be easilly removed by unchecking it.

Also, try deleting or moving the most recent save in your saves list. The game uses the most recent save to give you a screenshot during loading and it may be that save that is causing all the issues and you can't load another one.

Ahh - why does this always get my goat?

People post a big ol thread for their end of the world problems and tragedies - people offer solutions - some are tried some work some don't. Then they find the answer and say 'problem solved' and that is it.

Am I the only one who ever uses the forum to look for solutions to problems before I post them? Or for general knowledge or to search out some info on a mod?

Of what value is this thread to anyone who comes along to read it later? None.
Why?
Because the mod was not named.
Because the exact issue that was the cause was not named.
Because the answer to solve the problem was not named.

all of which increase the chance that this exact thread will be posted again and that people will scan threads and think - "they are all a waste of time I should just post mine up without looking for an answer." I'm not saying I'm an angel with regard to this but c'mon this thread is now an exercise in folly.

What was the problem and how did you fix it?
