Too many robots!

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 9:07 am

Every time I go for a jog in the wilderness, I am almost tripping over the bloody things.

It seems likely that after 200 years of wear and tear (not to mention robot hating deathclaws!) that they would actually be pretty rare outside of sealed facilities with maintenance support.
How can I reduce the numbers of 'wild' ones?

Any robot cleaning assistance much appreciated.

You have both:
Mart's Mutant Mod - Increased Spawns.esp
Mart's Mutant Mod - Reduced Wasteland Spawns.esp

Does it say in the readme that you can use both?

It should work. 'Increased Spawns' Increases the number of NPC's per spawn. 'Reduced Spawns' lowers the chance of a random spawn by 12% They should be independent.

Yeah you can use both together. Increased Spawns basically increases the spawn number everywhere.
Reduced Wasteland spawns makes it so that each spawn point outside in the wasteland has a percentile chance not to spawn anything. You can activate both over the FWE menu as well

gurachn,
don't actually think you are actually experiencing any problem. Fallout always had alot of robots. You could modify the Leveled Creature lists (EncWasteland....) to decease the chance of robot spawning.

Actually, the only way to reduce the robots from appearing is to increase the chance of other creatures occurring instead. IIRC, there's only one entry in those lists for robots, it's just a matter of chance whether they appear or not. Increase the chance of having other creatures appearing, and less robots should spawn.

Yeah, I didn't mean to give the impresson anything was broken, but it just seems very unlikely to me that there would be such a large number of metalic annoyances running around. With a level 6 character making a trip from Arefu to the Pitt tunnel I counted at least 4.
Wth no maintenance and being attacked by deathclaws and Yao guai, it seems unlikely that there would be any left just wandering about the wasteland.

I'm afraid though that I am not very clear on how the leveled lists work, hence this post.
I went and stripped all reference to robots out of the 'EncWasteland', 'EncWastelandTough', 'EncWastelandWeak' lists, and that seems to have markedly reduced the incidence of Robbie and his mates, but I did see at least one Protectron still wandering about (just before it was scrapped by a deathclaw), so I'm not sure exactly how he managed to slip in.
Somewhat interestingly, I also encounterd a large (~8) pack of dogs, half of whom seemed to be walking on their hind legs! Not sure if this relates in anyway to my changes though.

In addition, I upped MMM's Reduced Wasteland Spawns to 20%.
12 just seemed a bit too busy.

Ideally, I would like wasteland encounters to be fairly rare, but more deadly and definitely plausible.
Not sure if this is the best way to go about it, though, so any comments or suggestions most welcome.
