Do you use potions

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 2:40 am

Yea i use them all the time. My character is a sorcerer that specializes in conjuring. I usually have three or four monsters out at a time and those things eat up a lot of magicka, especially if they get taken down(the auto-regeneration mod helps too). Me being delicate, would go down pretty fast if the enemy gets past them. So i always have magic potions ready, but only the store brought ones. As far health, i rely on items or scrolls, i don't have much health anyway. I also use intelligent, willpower, and personality potions. But i don't exploit it.

My answer is yes. When you don't use potions while you challenge Gaenor, Gaenor would kick your ass. lol.... I use potions for another things like using Golden Saint summon and etc...

I hate to say I carry lots and lots of potions. I carry health and magicka potions. I seem to go through them like crazy. I guess this game is hard for me, so I use them alot. I still have fun, so that's a good thing.

My Nord adventuress has a general distrust of magic so she doesn't use scrolls and only uses healing potions.

Being a heavy magic-user I tend to cane the old Restore Magicka potions quite a bit - and Restore Health too, basically 'cos I can't be arsed to waste magicka on a girly healing spell when I could be using it to set fire to some skeletal warrior's head instead

As for making potions - I do that purely to raise my alchemy skill, which goes towards raising my Intelligence. Oh, and to occasionally fix/mess with my attributes.

i play as a mage with leveled magicka and atronach sign. i make my own potions and use them. two reasons for this:

1. with leveled magicka you need very strong potions to refill your mana supply since it grows and becomes quite large and it does not regenerate because of atronach.
2. i would buy them but vendors usually sell those first that are placed on shelves and i don't want to destroy the arrangements. so i never buy potions ingame.

i restrict myself when i brew potions, sell them and leveling alchemy to balance the game. nevertheless it's modded for some difficulties to need the big mana supply for hard enemies.

it is possible to balance the game with using alchemy. i don't feel like a cheater (and i also don't think my game is too easy) and that's the point of having fun :)

I voted yes. I use them when I need them and I always have some with me, but I don't buy or make any. I use what I find, and I very rarely use them, but I use them.

Actually i don't, but that's mostly because i don't need buffs, but i use them in some occasions, like if i can't move, because of massive strength drain.

I use the heck out of health, fatigue and magicka potions because i'm always stupid enough to explore under leveled. But it makes for some interesting stories.

"Telekinesis potion 1440 feet for 1440 seconds" - you can't even see that far in vanilla MW... :D

All kidding aside, when I play mage I like the restore magica potions cuz I use the atronach sign, as well.

Contrary to the last poll choice, I NEVER make potions to sell, and never use an intelligence potion to make a better Intelligence potion; it's just too game-breaking.

Carrying a Cure Disease or Blight potion or two is normal for most of my characters, and they'll often have a couple of others on hand for various emergencies, but I generally don't use them on a regular basis. In most cases, an Enchantment is preferred over a potion for recurring situations like Waterwalk, Levitation, Healing, etc., because those will recharge over time, rather than vanishing when used once.

I make a lot of potions to help out with low funds early on, keeping things like restore strength/health/fatigue/magicka, cure poison, cure disease...and selling the rest.

I guess you can use alchemy to cheat. Never really used it that way.

Yes, I use them. If I make a character that knows Alchemy as a major skill then I never choose Restoration as a major skill, and vice versa. Choosing both skills just always feels awkward to me.

Mostly I buy stuff from Nalcaria of White Haven (The Extra Spiffy Restore Health, or whatever it's called). Occasionally I'll make my own levitate potions. And cure disease or blight are handy as well as restore magicka.

I like the powerful health potions for when I'm getting pwned at low level. I start buying fewer as my character gets better. But you can always use a levitate potion. Well, unless you have CE levitate item.

Most of my charcters collect every ingredients they find to make potions to level the skill, restore fatigue and damage xxx potions can usually be made, but I only keep potions for restore health, restore magic, restore attributes (damn bonewalkers) and thing like levitate or other things I think I might need. I never use emeralds for potions but everything else. A nice thing about homemade potions is that a good potion is better than an exclusive potion and might weigh nothing. Of standard potions I use the same as above + sujamma and flin.
I never sells to creeper/mudcrab, never stack potions, and only use them in really tough battles, I also never trains my skills and play at difficulty +50- +70 , so that keeps my game at my preferred difficulty (at least until lvl 20).

For health I typically enchants something lesser like my greaves or pauldron with restore health with the best soul I have, which usually keeps it charged enough to restore health after a battle. For that reason I also never has to sleep, and I really only do it to force dream based events.

Sometimes I play all tank-style and ignore alchemy though.

Not only use, but ABUSE. If I wanted to totally change my gameplay experience, I would have a character without alchemy and who never used potions.

I use potions quite a bit. I always use Alchemy as one of my majors that way I can make the ones I need and if Im a little bit short on cash I can sell the ones I make and dont need. Most of the time Im making ones that have to do with curing and restoring since I always seem to forget to raise my Restoration skill. Although I cant say Ive always been this way involving potions, I used to be the same as the OP when it came to them, Id never make em and Id sell all the ones I do get.

Yes, potions come in handy. I use the Alchemy skill for my characters, In contrast to the OP I hardly ever use trainers.
