Can't open console command

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 10:17 am

I encountered a bug that wont allow me to complete a quest, so I decided to try to use the console command to advance me past that point, but when I use the ~ key to open the console command nothing happens. Am I supposed to do something before I can use it, or is there another way to open it?

The "PC/AT Enhanced PS/2 Keyboard (101/102-Key)" option it says to pick is not available, the only things I see when I do that is "HID computer device" HID-compliant device" and "microsoft eHome MCIR keyboard"

And yeah, I do have vista, I didn't think it would be important for this issue, but it doesn't surprise me that that is the problem. Lousy vista :brokencomputer:

Vista is the cause of a lot of Morrowind problems, and it's the case here too.

I know several people who had this problem and I found a solution that worked for everyone: deinstall your IR drivers! No idea what it has to do with the problem, but there you go... hope it helps you too :D

Another very easy fix is to use the macro function of MGE.
This will allow you to set the Console to any button you wish.

How do I do that? I know more about computers then my dad, but I'm not really that tech savvy

1. Click the "Start" button and open the "Control Panel" window.

2. Click "System and Maintenance" followed by "Device Manager" to open up the Device Manager window. This window contains a list of all the devices installed on your computer.

3. Expand the "Infrared Devices" entry.

4. Right-click on the IR port entry and select "Disable." This will fully disable the IR port.

Windows may enable the drivers on a restart. But I don't use Vista, so I'm not entirely sure about that.

I have heard of that happening too, but only once. Several other times it worked.

Also I think there is a difference between disabling and completely removing. You may want to try the latter.
