Best Body/face replacer mods?

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 9:58 am

Hi all,

just getting back into playing FO3, and im wondering what the best body replacement mod is there? i like the realistic-looking ones, not the (for females) superheroine types. in OB for example, i use robert's body mods. thanx!

Dimon's type 3 female body replacer is highly popular and a lot of clothes are made for it. Which is the "best" is a matter of personal opinion. That replacer seems to look natural I guess, and not overdone or anything, it looks normal.

I use the Babe Body replacers. The character looks athletic without looking like Arnold Schwarzenegger. There are nvde and underwear versions for those who want to keep it family friendly (far reach if you are playing a game where people die in glorious/ inglorious) piles of goo. ) I would agree however that "the best" is a matter of personal choice.

regarding faces, there's nothing better than Project Beauty... http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=6341
I haven't found a decent body mod, that's fully compatible to PB and doesn't scream "six AND [censored] EVERYWHERE" so I forgot about that.

Project Beauty edits faces. Body mods replace bodies. There is no incompatibility issue between them because they don't modify the same thing, and it says as much on Project Beauty's Discussion page.
4. Will this work with body mods?

This will work with most body mods. This is because this is a face mod. It should work with Dimonized Type 3, Malos, Type V, etc. But it will not work with other face mods. For example, Josef Grey's makeup textures or Dimonized faces.

The mod will conflict with other mods that actually edit NPCs, and if you choose the HD version you will be installing unique textures that can be overwritten by other face texture replacers.

I use male and female body mods, but none of them "scream six" to me. Perhaps I'm just not looking hard enough?

I can recommend Breeze's Fallout 3 Male body mod- it has texture options, replacement meshes for the vanilla clothes and some DLC, and it comes in a scripted FOMOD for folks who don't like manually installing these things.

I find Type V to be the most realistic for a body shared by all females (not just supermodels). Well, except for how it (or any body replacer) looks on old people but it's not his fault that they share the same body. :P

I also think it's the one that has the least visible neck seam when used with the fantastic Project Beauty, which you should definitely get.

how can an erect [censored] not scream six? :D And that's only the male part here ;)
anyhow: yes, I had that one installed for a while, and it most definately looked best compared to the other ones. but the issues just weren't worth the good looks. and it unfortunately did mess up the npcs in conjunction with PB (weird textures, missing face-parts)
I haven't tried it since, though. Maybe I'll give it another try.

I believe that is optional- and it's an option I chose not to install. ;) If you chose to install permawood on your guys, then that's your thing, not mine.

I had Breezes and PB and no problems. Plus undies is an option with Breezes. I think the guys look great. And the underwear is much better looking than the regulation Wastelander edition IMO. The options are very easy to manage in FOMM too. Just my two cents if you are interested in trying it out again. I had Breezes installed first though, which may have prevented any issues from occuring, IDK, and I hand installed PB ( I don't know if there even is a fomod) to make sure I had all the textures where I wanted them.

yep, i tried it again right now and it seemed to work without glitches.
there's a custom fomod script for PB and quite a bunch of other mods here: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11200
I customized the script to play with the new compatibility patches of PB. If you want it, send me a PM.

I just use the "hanging free" version of Breezes but now you and Llama have me reconsidering my options...permawood? Or covered up...hmm. Anyhoo. I can also recommend Mavrosh's tattooed textures for Breezes bodies- particularly if you're playing a custom race so you can be the only guy in the Wasteland with awesome tats.

I have no strong recommendations for female bodies- they all look equally okay. I just use Dimon's for all of the optional stuff that is compatible with it.

Perhaps. But perhaps they are...

Gah. :bolt:

Ya, those options are pretty fun. :)

And, I have to agree with you about the female bodies. I always play a girl and I like Babe best for my own character, but the neck line is pretty bad on the NPCs, and the Type 3 is better on everybody else, but I don't like the body as well for me, but I like the face textures best from Type 3. So there you go. I cannot come up with a good strong recommendation for any particular one either. Type 3 does have the most armor made for it; or it seems like it anyway.

Type 3 does seem to have the most optional stuff. But is it stuff you'd ever use? That's the question I am asking myself now. It occurs to me that I don't use many clothing mods- Azar's Gypsy stuff, BeZen's outfits which are retextures of vanilla stuff, and Tailor Made. That's it. And I'm happy with that.

Ha! You're in my mod list using my mods! I haven't tried BeZen, but ya, I have the other two and that's about all I use. Oh my character's been wearing the Ghost Suit for Type 3 that was a "hot file" until just recently. It works fine on the Babe body as does all the Tailor Made things I've tried with it. I have downloaded Tesla For Girls because it sounded too funny and actually looks good in the pics. I haven't found any Tesla clad Enclave though since I DL'd it. I went through a phase where I tried just about every Type 3 outfit I could find, but I didn't really like them and I've settled down to this. What I'd like to see is a greater selection of good clothing for male characters.

We have good taste, what can we say? :D

As far as I can tell, running Babe while using clothes for Type 3 isn't such a big deal- I guess the UV mapping is similar enough, at least to my unfussy eye. And I agree with you about more male clothing. I'm female, and I mainly play female characters, but I have a male toon that needs some fashion love.

Ugh. Firing up Blender...again.

thanks 4 all the replies! ive decided to try Breeze's and type V for now since they seem the most realistic to me at this point and the least issues.
