Don't make the pc an android, give them a choice in what they are, and nobody wants to be restricted to a background. and don't give the synth retention unit trench coats, give them actual armor. They're gonna probably get attacked alot and need protection, not to look cool.

They could have armor under trench coats.

I also hope that the android's story isn't a sappy learning what it means to be human story but you start the game with flashbacks learning about a human life living in a human town, etc. Then you wake up in the forest with no memory of how you get there and there are people from the Institute looking for you and it has a really dramatic seen where they attack you and the Railraod saves you. They tell you who you really are and how your memories are from one of their members who was killed rescueing you. Instead of _____ _____ you SH170 (Synthetic Human 170). Then you choose whether to simply pretend you're ____ _____ , return to the Institue, help the Railroad, or go on a hunt for your creator who kept you as a slave for years (Mr. Zimmer).

It's just that the East coast is new, and The Commonwealth was heavily talked about in Fallout 3 and a lot has been established for it. It's perfectly likely that they put so much stuff about it because they wanted to plant a hype seed for Fallout 4. And given that The Commonwealth is a new place and we have been to California in 2 (I suppose three because part of New Vegas is in California) games, them referencing it is less likely to point to a sequel.

If I didn't have a choice of race, then I definitley would not want to play as an android.

If there was a choice though, and Android was an option along with Human, Ghoul and Supermutant, then yeah, I'd be cool with it.
