Children are present in Skyrim

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 9:00 am

I really dont like to vote in polls, so i will throw my 2 cents in here without voting. I really like the idea of children being in the game. I think it will add a layer of depth that previous titles (Oblivion and morrowind) were missing. I know that there are several things being done to make towns feel more "alive" and i think have little dunmer running around, or seeing a Nord with a huge stick, or a little high elf run up and try to boss you around would really add an interesting aspect for immersion sake. I loved the inclusion of children in fallout 3, especially that whole "little lamplight" zone it just kind of reminded me that ya, kids are still out there and will one day grow into advlts. I am a bit concerned that they will repeat the idea that children cant be killed. *activates flame resistance aura* I know it seems terrible, but it was pretty lame lobbing a mini nuke from the fatman at that smart@ss kid in the town in fallout that had been overrun with fire ants and him just walkking along with that smug look.....I also completely understand where Beth comes from by not letting you kill children....this would just be a horrible thing....except for mabye some baby bosmers?....anywhoo

TLDC: there has to be a way to include children, make them unkillable, but also make then more responsive to what happens to them.

PS: In the rare even that bad things can come to children in TESV...I would like to propose a "Modest Proposal"

Children add deph ?? LOOOOL!!!!
Children will react to what happens to them ??? What happens if i kill theyr parents ? Or a dragon butcher half a village and they lay there with nothing anymore ? Will be nice to see their reactions..especially if i sit there doing nothing and keep pressing the laught emo ?
They will be unkillable ? Nice can i sever them in many parts ? and see what happens ?

Come on, reality check, childs are useless unless you want to play the Sim on TES, or you want to make a parallel with JRPG having a nerd under 10 years kids giving you 'usefull" clues about killing Chin chop kuan Suey, the evil dragon....
the only fun with kids was punching them out of the way, and as they react to what happens to them i hope they ll cry this time.

I bet if they took women out of Skyrim, you wouldn't question it either.

But then who would make sammiches for the heroes? Haha, just kidding.

But I don't mind kids as long as they don't swarm around the PC being annoying.

yes children add depth. They make a society a bit more believable. In past games there has been nothing young. In the age old question of which came firest, there has never been even a sighting of an egg...so i think yes children will add a since of depth to cities. and yes i hope they cry as well. If you have not played fallout 3, i suggest u give it a go. make sure to attempt to take out lucas simm's son or something, that way you can get the game changeing response of him running away after taking a full action bar of vats to the face.

Edit: it also has nothing to do with a 10 yr old "nerd" giving you tips. But you have clearly never spent any time around children. They can teach you things that would really surprise you.

The problem with thing that really doesn t matter but are in is the fact they pull out ressources from the things that really matters....

I don't get most of you who say no.

It takes away immersion that they cannot be harmed.
It takes away even more immersion that children do not even exist.

sigh....

The problem is people think that all children are whiny little brats. I imagine in the Elder Scrolls universe children are less spoiled and more mature.

Sorry i couldn t do anything with Fallout 3 but ressell it after a dozen hours its so crappy especially the morronic Very-Astonishing-Tard-System that i almost puked. (couldn t play it more than a dozen hours) Especially after the" Ho its nice" effect wore off after the usuall hour of gaming. So i didn t got to the child part, which i, by the way wouldn t have cared less.
This was probably due to me playing previous Fallout games, liking to pay Arma, and many missions not doing sense at all because of pitifull elaboration.

There was no problem with immersion in Morrowind or Oblivion, neither had children.

For you I guess.

Depends person from person.

Your experience of a game isn't the same as everyone else's.

Children should be in the game, and they should be killable.
