Post » Tue May 17, 2011 5:39 am

Ever notice how the Guarskin drum doesn't look like it uses guarskin at all? Now it will.

.:Readme:.
Name: Guarskin Drum Replacer
Version: 1.0
Date: 3/12/2011
Category: Models and Textures
Author: Alaisiagae

Description
===========
Gives the guarskin drum a unique model.

Details
=======
This mod gives the guarskin drum a new model that uses a - surprise! - guarskin texture. Same mesh as misc_de_drum_02.nif, so there should be no oddities in the game world (i.e. floating drums). Comes with a new icon, too!

- requires an .esp
- .esp cleaned

Install
=======
1. Extract the files to a temporary location.
2. Examine the folder structure and make corrections where necessary.
3. Copy files to (install folder)\Morrowind\Data Files\
4. Start the Morrowind Launcher, click 'Data Files', place a checkmark beside the .esp.

Uninstall
=========
1. Start Morrowind Launcher, click Data Files, uncheck the .esp file(s).
2. Delete the .esp file from \Morrowind\Data Files\
3. Delete the following:

Meshes\Alais\m\drum_guar.nif
Icons\Alais\m\drum_guar.dds

Upgrade
=======
1. Uninstall the old mod.
2. Install the new mod.
3. Start Morrowind and play. There is no effect on saved games and should not corrupt any saves.

Incompatibility
===============
Will conflict with any mod that edits the mesh and/or icon of the Guarskin drum.

Known Issues or Bugs
====================
There shouldn't be any. If you find any problems, let me know.

Updated! Now includes a separate download that contains a smoothed, high-poly mesh courtesy of tronvillain! :) See the .zip's readme for specifics. Will require the main mod for the .esp and the icon.

Al, the top of that drum looks great but the sides look like they're still using the old low-poly wood texture. Would you be interested in increasing the sharpness of the wooden sides? If it's too much trouble, don't worry about it. Thanks.

Yes, it is using the "old" texture. The top uses a vanilla texture, too. All of it uses vanilla textures, actually; totally compatible with any texture replacer. Er... the the texture replacer packs out there do replace the drum body texture with a higher-res texture, don't they?

I was thinking of using this for a mod so a texture replacer may or may not be used by those downloading it. If it's just a matter of replacing the texture with another, I can do that. :)

Yes, it is just a matter of replacing the texture. I even experimented with using the bamboo texture, it was kind of cheery but still low resolution. For the release of this mod, I decided to stick with the vanilla textures for the drum body and the rope wrapping that binds the head to the body.
