Environmental Damage?

Theres no way in hell you'll be able to destroy houses because of the split between interior and exterior cells. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qu_JQJvuBKw&feature=related is the best you can hope for and I'd be more than happy with that. Blasting people will force spells into pillars and crates would be awesome. Hope they get the dust and particle effects for the impacts as well nailed as well. When hardware has evolved enough to facilitate stuff like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gAQ_j23PtWc in an open world game as big as Skyrim, it'd be rad :D

I wouldn't really say "WAY LESS". Mars is ~0.3gs whereas Earth is ~1.0gs.
That said, the lesser gravity was in no-way modeled anywhere else. You fell the same, rovers stuck to the ground, debris fell the same. Etc. etc. So that is a bit of a silly argument.

Yeah, but it makes for a decent arguement.
But I agree they should have had the gravity affect the buildings more.

all i really care about is rigid-body and ragdoll physics. Some water physics would be nice if the developing team has the time.

I hope they used a lot of time researching the possibilities. But I won't get my hopes up

Yes it would be great, but that would be very hard to pull off right. What if you set a building on fire? And the shopkeeper dies? You wouldn't get a quest from him. Which would be cool, but what if it's an essential character? How do you take on such situations?

Same way they did in morrowind, you killed an important character... well svcks for you i hope you saved often.
as for destructability it can't be that hard to write a script that loads 2 different versions of a town destroyed and original etc. but i sincerely hope they don't do what they did with kvatch...

Wish it could happen... vases, plates, and etc breakable...
Water could be frozen with ice magic...
Electric spells could do more damage when in water...
Fire magic could melt snow, set small portions of areas on fire...

Just read on yesterday's GI update:

The Havok Behavior technology gives the spells more visual flair than we've seen in past Elder Scrolls games as well. If you cast a frost spell, you'll see the effects on the enemy's skin. If you're wielding the flame spell like a flame thrower, the environment will catch fire for a short while and burn anything that comes into contact with it.

Personally, I'm happy enough with this.

What do cells have anything to do with this?

it means you can "punch" holes into house walls, or break windows and such

Same. It's kind of exciting to think about.

That is NOT confirmed. Actualy, I am 99% sure that everything but buildings is one open cell. Other wise, how would dragons attack the inside of towns and cities? Walk up to the main gate, fade out, fade in on the other side, then start flying around, burning random s****?

hope your right

I was going to bring this up, and this is a very good feature.
