Package settings for NPC animations

Yes the sweeping animation is only available in Shivering Isles so perhaps a note should be made next to it in the first post. :)

Btw, this thread is extremely helpful, thanks.

Sit package

The only acceptable way I've found to make an NPC sit, is by targeting a specific chair in a Find package.

Flags: as needed
Schedule and condition: as needed
Location: a nearby marker of the cell should be fine
Target: a specific, persistent chair/bench/etc selected in the 'Near Reference' box.

Other combinations either did not work or were buggy (e.g: instant teleport or sitting in the air).

Keeping this one topical. Ive trawled for package info as I am back into doing them and the number of questions being asked in new threads that are answered here is ridiculous. I will add more to this as I discover them.

Not a thread to be forgotten this one, I keep coming back to use it. Others post packages if they can think of them please. Lets keep this as a quick resource for others.

It has been a month since the last reply. Don't let this topic of extremely valuable information disappear.

Easiest way to add clean Idle Manager Entries is to add them to an Esp that is not mastered to Oblivion.esm or any Esm -> this will create entries at the top of the _Male idles and as long as your idles can not be accessed on accident by not having a proper entry into that Hierarchy Tree it will not effect any other mods -> that way I can NOT master my mod to anything and still not conflict with other mods who do Master to Ob.esm.

Did I miss it in this thread, or is there no Reading Animation added to the list?

I think there's more than one reading animation, or maybe it was just that there's more than one animation using a book (Raelmina in SI takes notes in one as well, so it's definitely true with that in place).

IIRC there's something odd about the reading one, like the book having to be in the character's own inventory, so you can't just send them into a library to use one that's there. It may be related to the way it's used, as the AI package is likely to be a UseItemAt for the chair you want them to sit in while they read. I'll check up on this, as it's one I'm likely to be using.

Another one I've noticed and might want to use is the generic "operate" used for pushing buttons, opening doors, etc. I think there are some variations that depend on the item being activated, and they should be here, too. I just remembered I've used this for a guard opening a door. There's a couple of pointers needed for that application, as you have to position the guard so the door doesn't hit him!

I didn't know that. There are some really good ones in SI maybe they should be listed too.

Here is the standard Read a Book one....

AI Package : Use item at
Location : XMarker or chair set as a Perisistant Reference
Target : ObjectID : The ID of the book you placed in NPC's Inventory.

NPC Inventory : Any book.

In vanilla there's only one "reading book" anim. And in SI there's similar one "http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j265/trollf/Oblivion/Shivering%20Isles/trfob-si49.jpg". Any other animations with books come from custom made mods.

Now you list those detail, I remember the other oddity. Reading is an upper-body animation, and the character can be standing or sitting when they do it. If the Location is a chair, they'll sit down to read, otherwise they do it standing. In effect, two animations in one.

Eating and drinking are the ones that really confuse me. They have the same sitting/standing duality, and it appears that you control what item (food or bottle or mug) they use with inventory items, which need negative quantities to ensure they're always "restocked". Getting all the ducks in a row for those can be a pain.

When I'm back at my CS machine, I'll look around for the ones SI adds. There may be a read scroll as well as a read book, but I have downloaded a few animation mods in the past, so the extras may have come from them. There may be a mod-provided one for reading a book that is not in the NPC's hands (i.e. on a table or lecturn or even on the ground if they're lying down). There are certainly poses for those, but I can't remember if there are full animations, too.
