[RELz] The Census and Excise Office 1.4

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 10:10 am

Great House Fliggerty and GHF Productions is very pleased to announce the advancement and improvement to our grand project: http://www.fliggerty.com/phpBB3/cne/cne_main.php

(The mod is downloaded at the Census site.)

I'll skip to the chase for those already familiar with CnE: the additions!
1. Public Journal Entries: It is now possible to write short messages in the game and have them immediately update to your character's profile! There is a small program that you run in the background which takes the messages you type and inserts them into your profile. These are fairly short messages, limited to 500 characters.

2. http://www.fliggerty.com/phpBB3/cne/cne_signature.php: Anybody who owns a character in CnE can create a custom banner image that can be used in forum signatures, web sites, anywhere that you can post an image. These are dynamic, meaning they will change as the information changes (although most of the data available generally won't change, such as name, race, etc.) You can change the background image, what data is displayed, font color, font, etc.

Revisions:
v1.4

-- All missing badges should show up properly now.

-- Made numerous style changes to the Census and Excise site.

-- Character's name will now display in the message that shows if they haven't uploaded a journal.

-- Fixed broken redirect after uploading a journal.

-- Entire journal will upload now.

-- Introduced "Public Journal Messages."

-- Added the signature banner generator.

The Census and Excise Office is an online Morrowind character showcase. It features a mod portion, a stand-alone program, and a web site. The site has character specific screenshot galleries, a point-based character ranking system, and a full character profile view which includes public comments. All of the mods used will be displayed on the site as well, with built-in links to Yacoby's ES Search to help you find the mods another character has used. We also have incorporated the UESP's Morrowind Map to show where your character currently is.

The mod will harvest many statistics and various data from your game as you play. The uploader program will then take this data, and other information from your save file, and upload it all to your character's online profile.

Some of the information that will be showcased:

* Current Activity (from user input)
* Current mood (from user input)
* Current location
* Cell name (coords if in "Wilderness")
* Current weather
* Is a vampire (and what clan)
* Is a werewolf
* # of kills as a werewolf
* Current companions
* Currently equipped items
* Amount of gold in inventory
* If Fargoth has been killed
* # of cliffracers killed
* # of NPCs killed
* # of creatures killed
* # of times the console has been opened
* #of spell cast attempts (for each school)
* #of spell cast failures (for each school)
* #of spell cast successes (for each school)

There will also be awards, or "badges" for certain acheivments in the game:

* Levels: 10, 25, 50, 75, 100, 150, 200
* Opponents Killed: 10, 25, 50, 75, 100, 150, 200, 250, 500, 1000
* Creatures Killed: 10, 25, 50, 75, 100, 150, 200, 250, 500, 1000
* Slaves Freed: 10, 25, 50, 75, 100
* Reputation: 25, 50, 75, 100, 125, 150
* Complete Morrowind Main Quest
* Complete Tribunal Main Quest
* Complete Bloodmoon Main Quest
* Leader of Each Vanilla Faction (1 Badge Each)
* Millionaire
* Gave Fargoth's Ring Back
* Killed Vivec
* Nerevarine

So dig out your Morrowind CDs, dust them off if necessary, and make sure you get plenty of good mods installed. Then come on and show off your character!

We have been working on this for nearly a year and a half. I have literally put myself into this mod. This is the crowning jewel of my modding career!

5. CONFLICTS & BUGS

*****************************************************************

MWSE's key press functions do not work very well with some non-English versions of the game
and/or keyboards. Because of this, there is an alternate setup option that does not require
any text input. Also note that some advanced stats, such as the number of console commands,
will not be properly tracked.

There is a chance that the book The Pilgrim's Path may become un-useable if you have it
in your inventory when you update the Census records. It seems that this is generally resolved
just by continuing through your normal game for a few hours.

I have tried to avoid any conflicts with any common mods. I may have missed something
here or there, if I did please let me know!

Regarding the console command tracking: The only way I can do this is by monitoring for
specific key press combinations. If you have remapped your keyboard to use anything different
than the ~ key, or are using a foreign keyboard, it may not work. Also note that even if you
disable the console using MGE, if you do press that key it may still register as a consol command
usage.

Please reports any bugs or problems at http://www.fliggerty.com/

Even more Facebookyness!

So I just killed Dagoth Ur! Hmm, this big thing looks like it's about to collapse. Oh well. *Updates C&E Profile Status*

Be warned, Fliggerty and I can't be held responsible for any character deaths caused directly or indirectly by standing around updating your CnE profile while giant golems fall on your head. :P

Haha! I imagine the Cliff Racers are going to be waiting until we are updating our journals, then swoop!
Great to see an update. I'm not currently playing MW, but I look forward to trying the new CnE soon.

Are there plans to add any more badges?
I still have some ideas for more, and some more of the classic/unique misc quests should be added.

A question as I cannot find the answer in the readme:
How does one change the default character image from the dark elf to one's character?

And further...
(applause for all involved)

I sure would like to add more badges. If you have ideas, please PM them to me. :hehe: Also, as a personal request: if possible, please include relevant journal entries that we can use to know when the proposed badges should be awarded. That would really help ease my burden in adding more badges.

Maybe a special badge for bringing all 32 artifacts to Torasa Aram in the http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Tribunal:The_Museum? I think that it's a nice achievement :)
Also I'd like to request Polish language support on The Census and Excise Office website. There is a problem with displaying some letters: http://www.fliggerty.com/phpBB3/cne/cne_viewchar.php?id=1233

I think there is. I know I sent Fligg a PM (here or at GHF) with some suggestions for Misc Quest badges.
But I think he's busy with his family lately.

Either way, this is such a fabulous project. I hope it keeps expanding. :)

There is definitely intent to add more badges. I've got other projects in the works, so it isn't a priority. But I've got notes and such written down, and have plans to add more.

Skyrim sort of threw a wrench into a lot of my plans....

For some reason the Public Journal Entries don't seem to work anymore, I start up the journal program before starting the game but nothing shows up on my characters page after I update the journal. I haven't changed any mods or how I use the program, it just stopped working for some reason. :confused:

I miss using the journal to tell my characters journey, it was an excellent way to roleplay my character. :sad:
