Put on the goul mask and they will be friendly? If you have it.

Sneak attack then run and gun?

Use explosives get some mines?

The best thing about Point Lookout is that it is so damn tough. :twirl:

I remember rocking up two years ago and thinking cool, my character is 23rd level and armed to the teeth, no trouble. Boy was I wrong!

Most of the Wasteland weapons do little damage to the Swamp folk. I found that the Double barrel shotgun that you find in Lookout to be the best suited weapon.
Take heaps of stimpacks and the Grim Reapers sprint is a must.

Use the dart gun to cripple legs an arms.
Then just run and gun.

Yes, I found Point Lookout great because it forced me to rethink my combat strategies. I had entered it straight after Operation Anchorage, as a level 5ish. I had left the Chinese Stealth Armor back at home, and I didn't have enough money to buy a ticket back to the Capital Wasteland, so I was forced to roam around a bit in PL. Luckily, I had a bunch of mines with me when I defended the house for Desmond, else I couldn't have made it with my hunter's rifle (lol.)

Fighting critters out in the open was awesome. Taking cover behind trees and all that stuff that's normally not really necessary in plain vanilla Fallout 3. I liked it a lot.

Point Lookout is amazing and difficult without a doubt.
I think my character died there more times than they ever did in the Capital Wasteland.
Plus I love the environment; lurking around in the murky, foggy Mirelurk infested swamps just added to the thrill!

I loved Point Lookout; the enviroment, the people (those weird Tribals), and the quests. My favorite one was The Velvet Curtain. I also loved Nadine! "Are we having fun yet?"

I made the mistake of thinking that although it looked quite scary, it would probably not be too tough, so I left my best weapons and armour behind.
I had to run away from the inbred mutants on more than one occasion!

i had fun with that one, the only place any of my characters have died were it wasn't related to a glitch!
The official guide says they do like 35% extra damage, (the enemys do, not you) so basically try to avoid getting hit with the double barrels.
i got hit with one at level 30 while wearing the winterized combat armor (glitched from anchorage) and saw 1/4 of my health disappear. O.O

This is what it is. The bad guys have an extra 35 point Damage Health effect for all their weapons that cannot be resisted. Of course the player cannot pick these up and use them thanks to a script. When you loot their bodies the script removes the NPC weapon that has the extra damage effect, and replaces it with the standard version of the weapon without it. The Swamp Folk also have more health than Super Mutants, and the melee versions do more damage than Deathclaws. The only thing they don't have are frikken laser beams in their heads. http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=7263 removes the extra damage their weapons do, somewhat leveling the playing field.

Yeah, the enemies there are really tough. I would recommend entering Point Lookout at around maybe level 20 or higher. But it's my favorite DLC, I loved Point Lookout :D

Point Lookout was Fantastic.Had a Good time Roleplaying as a Scavenger There...The Only thing I Hated about it,was there was No Companions.I mean with that 35 Extra Damage thing that the Enemies got,We Should Atleast get a Companion to even Out the Odds a Little! >:D

Perhaps do Mothership Zeta before Point Lookout?

I found the Electro supressor does the trick if you melee, the stun effect makes it look like a melee version of paralysing palm. In fact there are several weopons on Zeta that would make the swamp folk drop a little bit quicker than normal, perhaps one or more of the following: Paulsons revolver, Nova Surge, cryo nades, Atomic pulvorisor (my favourite - only weighs 2 and does good damage and get a huge & silly amount of shots in VATS). If your not bothered about lugging heavy stuff over there then why not bring a drone canon!

Main thing I found a little bit silly was the BB guns doing silly mount of damage! Is the Swampfolk +35 damage immune to armor effects?

Yes. I was getting killed by Swampfolk wielding BB guns. BB guns, for heaven's sake!

It was and is awesome though. I am roaming around in there right now. :)

Always thought it would be awesome to skin one of those hillbillys after I killed and wear it like armor, not even a deathclaw would be able to touch me.

Ghoul Reavers are hard werever you are.

Point Lookout is awesome.

I found the weapons found in it can do more damage than outside ones.
Throwing grenades and shotguns usually work if you are having trouble.

Also the weapons from Mothership Zeta are good and plasma rifles.
Running away also works when it involves swampfolk.
I tend to run away if it starts lagging in swampfolk fights in some areas.
Margaites House is terrible for lag outside the doors. And it is usually surounded by swampfolk waiting to attack you.

It is best to do Mothership Zeta before PL because of the weapons you get in it.

If you have the Ghoul mask it is a good idea to wear, so you are not surronded by lots of ghouls like happens in Turtledove Detention Camp.

I loved entering Point Lookout with that southern guitar tune on the boat looking at the lighthouse
But who was the person in the trailer who says "You are not welcome in this place"?
