If Bioware had gotten the rights to Fallout and made Fallout 3?

Well look at the way Mass Effect came out. I think it'd still be a great RPG, but it'd probably be a lot more constrained.

Less like Mass Effect more like KOTOR...in terms of environment size.

I'm more curious as to how TES V would have turned out without Fallout 3.

I think the Bioware mindset would not have made as good a wasteland as Bethesda which is full of content, and as you would expect to see content strewn everywhere and stuff that could be dug out of the rubble.

I think the Fallout 3 that we have now is kind of the definitive version of how Fallout should have been done and structured. That's not to say that this Fallout 3 is perfect, there are many tweaks to be done, but the overall of how this Fallout 3 game is close to a perfection that is very hard to fault, apart from the tweaks needed.

What's needed, well I could get a bit too invincible later on, so maybe tweak the SPECIAL and Perks a bit and/or have an even harder level. Having said that, you can restrain yourself in taking the most powerful weapons and armour, and stimpacks, things like that. I managed to keep my game pretty hard all the time that way, and no companions to help as well ... but a harder level I would prefer or just generally overall harder, though when straight out of the vault it was very easy to get wasted (on VH).

If Bioware got the rights, (which I wish it did), it would have been a ton better than how Bethesda made it. Bioware ACTUALLY has decent writers, and can make gritty content. The RPG part would have been much better, the combat would have been much better, and the writing would have been much better, hell, just about everything would have been much better. They would have actually followed Fallout lore as well :D

Fallout 3 is very far from perfection, and is not nearly what Fallout should be.

Bioware has good lore writers. However, they do not do RPGs anywhere near as well as Bethesda. Bioware is very linear, but there is a lot of lore for a very rich setting for their linear presentation. Basically, Beth is the opposite of this approach.

In either case, there is a huge need for modding the aesthetics of the characters so that the player actually cares about them. That is the downfall of Western RPGs in general, though. Thankfully, mods can help address that (usually, at least).

I've played Mass effect, mass effect 2 and DA. I would have played it, probably liked it, and now be playing Oblivion and waiting for TES V.

Bioware are very good at writing stories, but their approach to RPG and combat is horrible.
Bethesda rock at open world exploring and first person combat. And they do not 'dumb down' the inventory, which is so important to a game like this.

I am very happy that Interplay gave the license to Beth. :liplick:

If you hate FO3 then why are you posting on its forums?
On topic, it'd be much different. Very different.

I think a better question would be what would have happened if troika got the rights, as they actually did try for the game

I like Befhesdas way better. No one beats them at open world exploration. I like Boiware and I loved Mass Effect.

But there is a difference. You play a Bioware game. You LIVE a Bethesda game.

Game would be worse off gameplay wise but better storywise.

Lets see what would've happened

Better Story
Less Weapons and Armor
Same amount of choices
Linear road instead of Open World
Possible Voiced Main Character
Better Character Creation
Worser DLC
Terrible Publisher Management
Companions would be permenant Party Members
Romances which would ruin the game
No playing after the Ending

Yeah we are better off with Beth having done Fallout 3.

Romances which would ruin the game

Lol.

Bioware does have a habit of destroying the framework of a game, don't they?

Beth tried the idea of using a NPC like Bittercup, then thought- okay, that's enough.

If Bioware had made it Fallout 3 might've been decent (although I prefer Bethesda to Bioware games) but judging by DA2 Fallout 4 would be a travesty.
