Official TES V Speculation Thread # 59

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 8:11 am

Wait, I didn't gather anything from Todd that said they would announce it soon. They said that it would be the shortest time between announcement and release of their game. That sounds like it won't be announced for a while...

But now we know for a fact that it's on this generation of consoles.

Speaking with Eurogamer at QuakeCon, Howard said the title furthest along will be announced soon, but he wouldn’t say when to expect the reveal.

So the time between announcing Oblivion (360/PC) and the release was roughly a year and 5 months, right? I guess we need to look at what events and conferences are being held in the next 3-5 months.

EDIT: we need a new thread.

So you do really believe every word that Todd says? I can tell you that the game doesn't look even slighty like Crysis if you believe otherwise then suit yourself.

So you now know what TES:V will look like?
Man, I just wish I had magical powers like everyone in this thread for seeing the future.

In my opinion it seems like they are waiting for New Vegas to be released. Todd said that if Pete told him to announce it he would. And he would be satisfied with what they have made so far to show it.

In the interview Todd said it would be a shorter time between announcement and release of the game. That means, if they've been working on ESV for 2 years, and it takes 4 years, it could be a year or a bit less to announce...

The fast build-up of concrete information from Beth (mainly Todd himself) would suggest an announcement isn't far off.
Of course, the current flood of information could just be to keep us happy after a year of anticipating every event, without results, and buy them some more time.
I also don't know when they'd have an opportunity to show us a lot. He said he wanted to immediately show us a lot, which imo sounds like 'trailer', and I don't know if there is a good platform to launch a trailer from in the second half of the year. All conventions are over.

Todd also said they worked on their next project during Fallout 3's development, which we all expected, and yet Todd says they've only worked on the game for 2 years... That's got to mean full-production.

He said they worked on script and concept art already during Fallout 3 but not other stuff.

We don't even know for sure if the game they were talking about was even TESV. And to be completely honest, I hope it isn't. I prefer to think that Bethesda's been working on TESV since Oblivion came out, as opposed to last 2 years. 2 years doesn't seem to be enough to make a game with the immense detail and lore that I'm sure we all want, not to mention all the problems people felt that Oblivion had. (level scaling, fast travel, etc)

As mr tissue box said a couple posts up, todd could've met 2 years of full-on production, so they could have written up, planned, etc, after oblivion.

That's something I've been thinking about ever since I read that interview.
I honest to God hope they aren't talking about TES:V, because 2 years? That's not near enough time to bring us a game as detailed as Morrowind, which is what we want. Unless they've just got an insane staff of double that of Morrowinds/Oblivions and they are pulling 20 hour days, yeah, I hope it's not TES:V.
