Tamriel Rebuilt and Steam

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 6:01 am

Hi,

I recently downloaded the Tamriel Rebuilt mod. However, I have the Steam version of Morrowind (with Tribunal and Bloodmoon), and the mod doesn't work. The meshes and textures will not load properly, and I just get an error image instead (It looks like a purple exclamation mark in a yellow diamond). I have been told that I need to redate the .bsa files on Morrowind to their original date, but I really have no idea how to do this. I would appreciate anyone telling me how to do this and what the original date is.

If this question has already been answered, I apologise.

Thanks a lot.

The file times I have are as follows:

01/05/2003 11:37 AM 118,425,318 Bloodmoon.bsa
21/06/2002 04:31 PM 310,459,500 Morrowind.bsa
29/10/2002 08:22 PM 64,986,032 Tribunal.bsa
29/11/2008 11:09 PM 167,931,456 TR_Data.bsa

I just did a quick Google search on "file redate" and came up with at lest one promising candidate, although there may still be a program called "touch" floating around somewhere.

I haven't got Steam, fortunately, but I vaguely remember that you shouldn't install it (or anything really) in Program Files if you're using Vista or Win 7. That sounds like a more likely source of the problem with TR.

Here is where you want to go.

http://www.overclock.net/pc-games/528344-solution-morrowind-steam-not-modding.html

Do this and you'll be ok. Be certain you install mods to the morrowind folder in steam.

I use steam and have no issue with TR. Or any other mods / utilities.

Hi,

I'm afraid he mod still isn't working properly. Whenever I try to go to Firewatch, I get a series of error messages that say
"Model Load Error
Meshes\TR\m\TR_misc_dice.NIF canno load file in Neshes\TR\m\TR_misc_dice.NIF
Will use the default object Marker_Error.NIF

Continue running executable?
Yes No"

This error continues for all the new models in the cell.

I have redated the Morrowind.bsa, Bloodmoon.bsa and Tribunal.bsa to the dates suggested by Fergus. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Your BSAs are properly redated. Instead you need to run BSAReg which usually ships with TR.

You need to register your bsa's. The easiest way is to run BSAReg, shipped with TR, but that doesn't always work. The surefire way is to update your ini. Theres a description of all that http://tamriel-rebuilt.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=20355.

I updated the Morrowind.ini file as in the link and it worked. Thanks a lot to everyone who replied for their help. I really appreciate it. Time to enjoy my new mod.

Thanks again.
