Grenade Types

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 11:55 am

Hello everyone, after being banned from the Borderlands forums 2 years ago, and lurking around here for a while, appreciating the maturity of the members compared to other forums *cough* Castle Crashes *cough*, and now I've grown the nads to sign up and voice my opinion, now where is my :turtle: ? Anyhoo, I was watching some gameplay of BRINK and have seen 3 types of grenades so far, Molotov Cocktails, what I can guess are Fragmentation Grenades, and Sticky Grenades (I know that isn't the real name, I don't remember at time of posting, but Halo has made the sticky grenade a household name in gaming :glare: ). I was wondering if all you people here know of any other grenades, or if perks (another name that I'm not sure of, guess what game I got this name from  ) affect the grenades, or even if you guys have any cool ideas for grenades, spill the beans. Also, I am a cat, but every half hour I learn to type in English but every other half hour I turn back into- MEOW MEOW MEOW MEOW!

There are Caltrop grenades for the Operative. They toss out caltrops that hurt you if you step on them. I think the grenade also doubles as a smoke grenade, releasing a thick cloud of smoke along with the caltrops.

Hm, interesting. Got any links? I'd like to learn about that. Also, I did not know grenade types were limited to classes. I hope it does work as a smoke grenade, would be really nice to bypass turrets if a friendly Op throws one down long enough to run past in and eventually hack it :ninja:

They are in the link below, it brings you to the exact time it shows it too. Thank you YouTube!

Seems a little..... silly. Not that there is anything wrong with that, I like my games to be unrealistic, I just don't think that fits the game from what I know of it. Also, a link would be nice.

The grenades are Class-specific abilites. Soldier gets Molotov Cocktails and there was an offical picture of a flash bang, but that may have been removed, Medic gets Lazarus grenades (but only at maximum level) that revive everyone, Operative gets Caltrop grenades, Sticky grenades and I've heard a few things about an EMP grenade agaisnt sentries, and Engineers get mines, which can be upgraded into napalm mines.

I can't remember a link off the top of my head, I'm afraid. The majority of it is littered around offical videos and the website's class pictures.

Now that I've looked around, It's more than likely the Caltrop grenades are just caltrops and no smoke. EVERYTHING I KNOW IS A LIIIIIE

There's also sticky grenades. If you ever played COD (Black Ops or MW2), Ratchet and Clank games, or any games that feature something similar to sticky grenades then you probably know what happens when it makes contact to other players.

Also, welcome to the forums. Have a turtle. :turtle:

Wedgwood has vaguely mentioned the fact that Soldiers get either extra grenades, or a special variety.

I don't like the idea of caltrops and smoke grenades being a single ability.

Having both as separate options would be cool though.

There is also flashbangs (Soldier) EMP grenades (Operative) Lazarus Grenade (Medic)

Soldiers are the grenade based class - they have access to flashbangs and molotovs in addition to the standard frag grenades. They can also increase blast radius and splash damage, and get extra greandes.
