...and I'm not joking.:ermm: Its apparently the only image known to be of TES V. If anyone knows anything more about it, please enlighten us. .

I looked on Tineye, and that image was posted http://news.mmosite.com/content/2010-05-31/big_news_already_underway_for_e3_2010.shtml in May 2010. He just randomly puts the image in his article, and doesn't explain it.

It was posted http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=246758 in this thread on the 3rd post by a davide.cool on April 5th, 2009. He also put it in his post randomly without explaining the picture. I like how he was right about it being in Skyrim.

David.cool got the image from imageshack http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/609/elderscrollsvshadowsofsfx1.jpg and it was posted there on imageshack December 17th, 2007. Whoever uploaded it there called the file Elder Scrolls V Shadows of SFX 1

Very nice, except for the fact that I have the FIRST quest.

Booyah.

:tops:

It would be pretty funny.

Player: Do you have a quest for me?
NPC: Yes I do!
Player: Cool, what is it!?
NPC:Ooh ooh , we're no strangers to love. You know the rules and so do I.
Player: ...

No, it doesn't...that's a ridicules claim. People were saying that about morrowind and oblivion, and oblivion blew a hole in the world of gaming. It'll match pc's maybe a year or two back. Bethesda is a next gen studio. They build the engine to last five years into the future so all their game will look amazing, then when the time is right they release Elder Scrolls flaunting their next engine around.

Out of curiosity, where does the term "next gen studio" come from and what does it mean? "Next gen" is always whatever generation is around the corner...it doesn't really mean anything, does it? I'm pretty sure it's just purty marketing words.

Anyway, at the end of the day the game is going to run on the current generation of consoles, which are on-par with high-end gaming PCs from around 5 years ago. A brand new engine will hopefully allow them to push things a little further than their previous Gamebryo-based game engines, but there's only so much they can do with the hardware they have to run the game on. It's possible that they'll create texture assets, model assets, etc. to allow some really amazing visuals to be unleashed for those with newer hardware, but I wouldn't count on it. For one thing, it's a bit more work, and outside of mod tools Bethesda hasn't exactly given the PC platform much special attention since Morrowind. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

^ thats what i meant.
xbox 360s and ps3s are using 5 year old hardware, so skyrim can only be so much better than oblivion (graphically wise)

I'm getting tired of pointing at bioware, but Oblivion was a launch Title. Look at the graphic overhawls from Mass Effect 1 to Mass Effect 2, Or the Halo Franchise, Or ...

Bethesda had very limited time to work with the actual console for Oblivion, I'm sure this time around they'll be able to squeeze every drop of performance the consoles can deliver. That being said, PCs are always going to beat consoles graphic wise.

Overhaul? I wouldn't call it that, Mass Effect 2 was just a little tweak over ME1. And the Halo franchise? Well, I don't play Halo and I can't really say but, Halo 3, Reach or whatever, all look the same to me.

the difference between halo 3 and reach was incredible, same with mass effect.

the hardware doesn't need to get better, the software needs to optimized. Tricks can be learned to allow more performance in other places, like discovering a way to render objects in the distance easier can allow more memory elsewhere, with a brand new engine who knows what they could have come up with.

The OP's screenshot is from the Sonata Articia game. A bit like Skyrim, I suppose.
