How to properly install ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 2:22 pm

I know alot of mods need this, so I am trying to get it. I don't know exactly how to install it, so I came here for help. Could someone tell me how to install it?

Do you have Fomm? If you do it is just a toggle switch. If you don't have Fomm, get it.

Fallout Mod Manager has this feature already, just open it up and click the button that says "Toggle invalidation" :)

Yeah, I do. I don't think I'd be on mods if I didn't.
Is there anything specific I should be doing? The normal FOMM button never works. And should it be installed in a special area? It's in the Desktop.

No, it should work just fine. Since you run Fomm as an application, it does all the leg work for you. Sometimes you have to toggle it off and on, when installing new mods. If your really worried about it, you can check your ini file. I forget the name of what your looking for, though. Someone else here probably knows it by heart though. I think it goes....bininvalidate....Things get hazy though.

I don't think it really did anything. Armors/Weapons with texture screw-ups are still unchanged.

Then it isn't Archive Invalidation. Take a pic so we can see.

Ok, go into your Fallout ini. Look for bInvalidateolderfiles-0
Set the 0 to 1 and you should be all good. That is basically invalidation invalidated. Done the hard way of course. But it will work.

Okay, where's that? Sorry, I'm a real noob when it comes to fixing mods.

Use your search function. From the start menu. Type in "Fallout.ini".

Thanks! I got it. It's in Archives and says =1 instead of =0, should work now? And it will work if I saved the text, correct?

No problem. I just remembered that from the old days before we had Archive Invalidated. Which, it wasn't long that we didn't have it.

Another option, if you have trouble running FOMM, would be to use http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=944 which has a self-installer that will make all those .ini changes for you!

Another alternative is http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2094, a very handy little utility which has a few really useful tools, including turning on and off ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated.
