The next Fallout should start a year before the war

I think it would be cool if the next fallout took place a year before the war, and after the bombs fall the player character slowly turns into a ghoul.

This way the game could conceivably leap frog through the years ala Vampire the Masquerade.

That would be interesting or trying to survive while the bombs fell and the world went to sh&*t

Bethesda have said that all Fallout games are to occur chronologically after the previous one. Chances are though that it'll still look like the bombs fell a few weeks ago, instead of a couple of centuries ago.

No, one year after the bombs would be boring. Endless nuclear rain, no mutants yet, no BOS, no Enclave, nothing, just endless raiders.

Now, 80 years after the war is the perfect sweet spot, as shown in Fallout 1.

I dont think so, I know more about what happened before the war then I do about what happened with the mid west bos, or who really won vegas.

A fo during the great war would be cool, but IMO Fo4 has some questions to answer about some things that happened after the war.

This will probably get locked as soon as a mod sees it. There is a thread for future suggestions.

So this would be the plot of this game, one year before the war. 364 day and sometime on October 23, 2077. Two hours of nuclear armageddon.

A game before the war would not be Fallout.

"The end of the world occurred pretty much as we had predicted; too many humans and not enough space or resources to go around. The details are trivial and pointless, the reasons as always, purely human ones."
