Vault entrance lighting

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 5:19 am

I have only just begun working in GECK, so logically I started following the Vault 74 tutorial. I skipped the NPC part as I was more interested in lighting. Now, I have successfully placed lights all over my "vault", but the entrance really bugs me. All the vaults used to have those beautiful rays of light that shine through the boards, but mine wouldn't display. So I loaded all the entrances to all the vaults and examined how it's done. There were some variations, I've tried them all, but to no avail. What's even more weird, now when I load the game, NONE of the vaults have that entrance light, except for vault101. Even if I don't load my esp file. Is it because the save file is already "tainted" with something I have done wrong? How could I even mess up all the vaults when I haven't even touched them. I didn't edit any base objects, only reference ones. I also haven't edited any climate nor weather settings.

So, these are my questions:
1. how to successfully recreate the vault entrance lights?
2. what could have happened to mess up all the vaults except 101?

thanks in advance

Make sure any RoomMarkers you may be using extend far enough past the doors so the FXLights are getting rendered, that's the only thing I can think of.

In my vault I didn't even place roommarkers yet, and in the other "vanilla" cells they are as they were, I didn't change anything.
I'll just have to start a new char and see if this is a bug related to my save game.

edit: it looks like this (it's day outside)

also, I have just watched a gameplay video of vault 108 on youtube, and the exit\entrance looked like this to that player as well (it was also day, it's here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ot8FIrjmU4 on the 7:45 mark). Maybe it's a bug I just failed to notice before? Can someone perhaps confirm it? And if it is a bug, how to prevent\fix it?
