FCOM - CTD when Fast Traveling

Hey everyone, I tried asking about this in the Hardware and Software forum and was told I might try asking here. Anyway, I recently installed FCOM about 3 weeks ago and played nearly crash free for a good 50+ hours. Then, starting a couple days ago my game wants to CTD just about every time I fast travel. It doesn't seem to happen at any other time except when I click to fast travel and the loading bar gets to about 50-90% then bam, CTD. :brokencomputer:

I have tried a number of things including INI tweaks, OSR tweaks, Crash Prevention system, Pluggy updating and removing, and hours upon hours of reading CTD threads here. I was told that it is possibly a known problem with Ruined Tail's Tail so I tried removing that mod from my load list and loading a saved game from before I even started that quest. Strangely this seems to alleviate the problem just slightly so I CTD maybe 50% of the time I fast travel as opposed to 95% of the time. This could definitely be a coincidence and I certainly don't want to point fingers at Simyaz's mod cause I think his mods are amazing. I feel its more likely to be a compatibility issue on my end but I'm just not sure.

Sadly I'm running out of patience and options after spending hours and hours trying to troubleshoot this problem to no avail. If anyone has any suggestions for me I am all ears. Thanks in advance!

Update your FCOM to the UFCOM release from the forums here (in FCOM thread)

Consider updating your UOP with Arthmoor's addendum

Get the fixed version of DiverseWaterlife from the MMM thread

37 FCOM_Cobl.esp [Version 0.9.9] Remove this for now, just use MMM - Cobl and OOO Cobl till next version is released

Consider removing 41 Mart's Monster Mod - Additional Enemy NPC Vars.esp [Version 3.7b3p3] to see if it's stressing your system too much.

68 300_White Stallion 4.esp, I think this one needs some cleaning. Or it may only be the upgraded version that needs cleaning.

9F OOO-Level_Stock.esp [Version 1.33] This is utterly useless with Oblivion XP

A0 Mart's Monster Mod - Resized Races.esp [Version 3.7b3p3] should be imported into bashed patch, not activated.

I am not sure that the issue is isolated to RTT. There is just something about companions and fast traveling... I still have not heard about that RTT crash recently.

Edit: ...I mean I have not heard any specifics about the issue.

Edit: You can use this guide to check your FCOM setup. Links to the downloads for all of the FCOM components and the unofficial official patches are found in step #1: http://sites.google.com/site/oblivionpoinfo/walkthroughs/fcomguide.

Edit: I believe both versions of the the 300 mod need cleaning, unless the other one was updated while I was not around...

Well... I spent a couple hours working on fixing everything mentioned in this thread and updating all my files and .esps and guess what? I still crash every time I attempt to fast travel :cold: :nope:

So if anyone has any other ideas I'm all ears I would love to hear them. I have by now at least conceded to the fact that I'll be playing Oblivion without fast traveling. I suppose it could be worse, at least my FCOM installation is fully playable except for that Fast Travel CTD. :rolleyes: Anyway, I'm willing to try just about anything to alleviate this problem so if anyone wants to chime in I will certainly keep checking this post.

By the way sorry for resurrecting this thread, it took me a while to get time from school and work to actually fix the things that were suggested.

Do you use the memory extender? Forgot the exact name of it, the 4gb patcher program. I used to crash almost every time I entered a city or some other heavily modded area. Once I patched it, I seldom crash when traveling.

Do not use that patch on a 32-bit OS or a system without at least 4GB RAM?

Well I'm using Windows 7 and I do have 4 GB of RAM. I am currently running with the 4GB patch on my exe though I kept a backup exe and tried without the patch to see if that was what was causing me to crash. Doesn't seem to have much effect either way.

If you use OSR, Arthmoor recently posted in the Memory Usage thread about increasing the OSR heap size, since you are using the LAA patch now. He increased the OSR heap to 1024 and change the heap mod to 5. You can see this in the first post of that thread of course.
