Wood Elf

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 6:38 am

First off let me say I did a search to see if there was a fanart thread up and functioning but couldn't find it. If this is out of place someone can close/link me to it :)

Here's something I cooked up yesterday, one of those things where a painting starts and you don't know where it'll end.

I think this is a fine place, but if I'm wrong, our wonderful mods will help you with it. :)

Your painting is hauntingly beautiful, and the sentiment it expresses is so very, well, wood elvish. Thanks for sharing your obvious talent!

Fine piece. I was a little curious about the extra line you added under her right jaw bone. It almost looks like a bit of fat. And the extra curve on her brow as well. I feel compelled to say the shine on the bridge of her nose looks a little odd but I stared at the painting a little longer and couldn't help but decide it fit. This glow you've given her is astounding. I myself haven't mastered that yet. I have a hard time doing water as you have. I usually end up just dabbing the waves with a bit of white and blue to give it a foamy look. Truly amazing. Not that I'm put off by it, but why did you go for a bald head rather than a head of hair? I suppose you appreciate the glow of faces too much, hm?

I love this painting. Do I dare ask for more?

Aside from the fact that it was a lot easier than rendering all that hair (:P) it conveys more of a sense of loss. I wouldn't go so far as to say she had her hair burned off, or felt the need to cut it off as a way of grieving, just that visually it also says that something's been lost.

Well http://www.rainvilleillustration.com/ though there's not really any other ES related art except http://www.rainvilleillustration.com/gallery/241141#9.

Looks awesome, the emotion is conveyed very well. Have you ever thought of making paintings of Vivec(the god), by the way?

Thing is I already work all day making art, so unless it's a paid job... I don't really have time to indulge :( If you want to commission something send me a pm and we can talk about it.

No problem. On a commission, I'd love to but I'm broke :(
