Jeremy Soule & Music!

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 8:02 am

IS anyone else as excited as I am about Jeremy Soule's return? I can hardly wait to hear his epic compositions.

Also, will people be listening to other music while playing Skyrim sometimes? In Oblivion I blasted medieval and folk metal, and I can hardly wait to blast Viking for Skyrim, like Tyr, Ensiferum, Equilibrium, and Bathory.
I can't think of any music more suiting to the atmosphere of Skyrim than these bands (other than Jeremy Soule's work, of course.)

Did anyone else watch that bit from Gameinformer about the making of the sounds of Skyrim? From the little tidbits I heart, I'm fairly certain the music is going to blow my mind

Yeah Jeremy Soule is great, there's more music in the art time-lapse video, also.

Eh I cant say that I was too fond of the music in the past Elder Scrolls games, the title music was just felt too pompous and the rest just diddnt seem to fit the setting for me. I was hoping Skyrim would go in a new direction musically but then I fear I am in the minority here.

I love Jeremy Soule's music, and I'm definitely happy he's doing the music for Skyrim. The title theme sounds epic, I'm dying to hear the full version. As far as listening to other music while playing, probably not. The only game I ever did that with is WoW.

Although, now that I'm so hyped for Skyrim, I've been using last.fm and just listening to the Neofolk station, and pretty much anything that comes up has a good ES vibe.

Maybe not. That depends on your definition of "new direction." I've only heard two tracks, so I'll wait, but I seldom play Morrowind - that's the truth - without music of my own. Oblivion's tracks were suited for the Disney pastiche, that it was.

The time-lapse melody's reminiscent of the Gael.

YES I am looking forward to Jeremy composing the score again. I really loved the Oblivion music, so I know Skyrim's is going to be awesome.

The first band I listen to after getting my fill of the soundtrack will be Wintersun. Hopefully by November, the new album will be out... according to the latest update on their web site, things look promising.

Me too! I think I first started getting into Wintersun/Ensiferum in 2006 or 2007. The old CD is still a regular play, especially during the winter. Jari said they're about to mix the album which means we shouldn't have to wait much longer... hopefully.
