Disabled all mods, have FOSE installed etc.

This installation is from like 3 formats ago (3 windows installations ago)

Just wanted to start palying again but it will not start.

I had tried to run it and it said missing xinput.dll than live.dll

Dl'd the dll's and put them in my install folder.

When i try to load up with fallout3.exe it just shows the hourglass loader than stops and doesnt do anything.

If I try to load via FOSE it shows the cmd box than exits out and doesn't load fallout.

Any ideas?

You're loading Fallout3.esm though yeah? Without that the game won't start.

Is your Fallout patched?

with whatever patch came out a couple years ago...

updated to 1.7 its still not loading.

Try removing your last few save game files - the game can load 256 esp/esm. that would be 255 esp/esm PLUS you last saved game (ess). If it is corrupt then it can do that.

don't need to delete either - can copy and paste out.

I have no current save games since its a new windows installation.

The fallout 3 folder in 'my games' is completely empty.

I would reinstall but I cannot find my cd key

I don't recall a CD key? I recall a LIVE activation key which I don't participate in.

Is this the DVD or a downloaded version?

If there is a key and you don't have it I'm certain a mod will think it is pirated.

A new windows installation without reinstalling F3 - that means no registry entries and other things to make it appear as an installed game. My first reaction is put a new ini in, but I think you got bigger problems.

And i meant CD's don't why the hell I typed cd keys.

also for the live.dll i just dled it off dll-files.com and put it in my system folder and I didn't recieve anymore errors after that. the game just simply doesnt start up, no errors or anything.

Live.dll is not going to do you any good without the rest of the Live installation. You can get it from Microsoft, just do a search on their site.

Very well, I just don't remember ever having it and why its going magically make my fo3 work, but i will give it a shot.
