What has brought you to get Brink

I want to see if it's really possible to create a game where people that are not intending to be a team player end up being a team player. Just by their actions of going after more XP for their character thereby team helping without them realizing what a team player they have become. This could be the sneakiest game ever created or the sneakiest maneuverer made by a developer. Me likey sneaky sneaky.

I'm Fed up with games about the Middle East and it seems SD is the only company thats not jumping on the band wagon ... Plus Brink Looks like it has a good shot at taking Game of the year IMO ... And I haven't even seen BF3 yet (But thats more Middle East FPS BS)

Well, I liked the bright, beautiful colors (not desaturated and brown like most FPS'es), the setting is different (tired of middle east/WWII settings) and really gorgeous, and I liked hearing about the SMART.

The characters (archetypes) look different than characters in a typical FPS and they have real "character" feeling to them, and the Container City gameplay made me excited (especially when I heard about the Medic class, hee).

However, I felt bummed about lack of female characters and was not going to get the game, when I heard from an Art Dev they were going to think about females in the future,
which made me decide to pre-order. ^_^ If it wasn't for that comment, I don't think I would have supported it and went the way of most female (and some males who were also
bummed about that, lol) gamers and turned away....

Because this game is made by gamers for gamers. It's not just because of the features. It's the spirit behind the features. It's what splash damage as a company stands for. Brink as a concept is a step away from the tired old copy cat game that has been call of duty 4 and all the games that followed for the past few years.

I invite all of you to embrace Brink because it's not recycling the same formula of dog tags, knife kills, overpowered aim assist, thoughtless spawns, kill streaks, and camping.

The Brink community rules because you have W:ET players and ETQW players who played a huge role in supporting splash damage from the beginning. So just the spirit of a PC developer that is a titan of multiplayer designing a game that is multiplatform would probably create an amazing community.

Every game always has some overhyped fans that say this. No offense to you at all, as I've fallen in the trap too with other games, but you can't honestly think Brink will get Game of the Year, do you? Its not that Brink won't be an awesome game, its just that from the get-go it never stood a chance. Game of the Year is all but guaranteed to Uncharted 3, Gears of War 3, Mass Effect 3, Battlefield 3 (wow, that's alot of 3s  ), or the new CoD. Brink may turn out better than all of those, but it won't win it.

I honestly believe Brink will probably deserve the GOTY award more than any of the "3"s you listed. Possible exception for Mass Effect 3, but I'm not a big mass Effect fan, so Brink will still have my vote above all of the ones you listed.

Skyrim, on the other hand....

The rumoured end-of-year Assassin's Creed game, on the other hand...

Red Faction: Armageddon, on the other hand...

I can see a few legitimate candidates for GOTY. Shame you didn't list any of them.
