I agree that KZ2 is ideal... KZ2 and UT99 are my favorite shooters ever.
The thing is though, that the body health in KZ2 actually isn't that high. It is the bullet spread that is the reason for the longer kill times. It takes 4 bullets from an assault rifle to kill. You have to extreme burst fire to get those bullets in as quick as possible. Most KZ2 players, such as my self, tap the trigger button, hitting about 4 out of 6 on a stationary target, and maybe 4/10 on a strafing target. It maybe takes 2 seconds on a stationary target, and 3-4 seconds on a strafing target, except when you get a headshot.
KZ3 has the same bullets per kill, but because the recoil was minimized, and because they made it smooth to aim down sights (where recoil is practically non-existent), the kills cut down from instant to 1 second depending on the gun...and thus feels like CoD, where you run around the corner and die...run out the door and die... etc. (Basically, rewarding defensive corner campers and punishing those of us who learned how to be aggressive and dance around stationary players in KZ2).
I've watched all the Brink footage I could, looking at the gunplay closely. I especially focused on the recent PAX footage people put on youtube, since it shows uncut gameplay at its more normal. Recoil is very different depending on the guns of course...I've noticed some that have practically no recoil, and some that have recoil almost similar to KZ2, which will probably be ideal for us KZ2 players who love to burst fire from the hip. Looking at the guns that have very little recoil, it actually seems like the player health is a lot higher than KZ2. But due to the low recoil, the kills still happen faster.
As for the higher recoil guns, while they do seem closer to something like KZ2 when hipfiring, you are probably meant to ADS with them.
Anyway, I believe that the gunplay will be very good for high-level players, and whatever the most effective gunplay style turns out to be, whether it is constant ADS, or strafing hip-firing...I'm sure I will learn to love it. I believe that it will e great for high-level play, because like KZ2, Brink has been play-tested for years...and when developers spend that much time on a playable build of the game, they end up designing it with the 500 hour + player in mind.
