I picked up Fallout, having not heard of it my decision to buy it was solely based on the cool box it came in and the fact it looked like a game where you got to deal out a lot of violence to all sorts of things from raiders to muties or just anyone you happened to want dead lol,
And it was a future set RPG which I thought was cool.
After playing I was hooked even though there were glitches it was still an awesome game, the story line was well thought out and compelling and you got right behind your character,
the side quests were interesting and not just random and repetitive fillers like some games these days, the characters you met and the NPC's you enlisted to your quest all played there part
in the story that added to the atmosphere that was a post nuclear apocalypse.
I loved the full motion video that played when you achieved something in the game like when you destroyed the master’s base which is something that Fallout 3 and New Vegas don’t have
which was disappointing even though I liked both games and the graphics are remarkable I would love to have seen a video of some brother hood knights slaying some muties or a cool cut scene after you have achieved something in the game, especially with the technology these days It would have made the game flawless, like the final fantasy series the cut scenes blow you away with the detail and really make you appreciate the game
I understand that these two games are totally different but I would just love to see some cut scenes in Fallout 4.
Fallout 2: When I heard F2 was coming I couldn’t wait I played F1 from the start again so by the time F2 came out I had just clocked F1 (I did this with every Fallout from there obviously fallout 2 got played a lot before I got my hands on F3 lol) Fallout 2 was even better than F1 which many sequel's fail to do so hat's off to the guys who composed the masterpiece that is Fallout 2 still the best game I have ever played and I have played it a lot.
I downloaded Killap's Restoration project and was very happy to play the final product, I also downloaded the mega mod that had some cool new map locations and items but was really buggy and I haven’t yet found a newer mod.
The best thing about Fallout 2 was the life of the game and the story lines that lead you from town to town which I found in F3 and New Vegas was disjointed and not linking in to a bigger picture which I feel left the gamer not wanting to really come back for more after clocking because it was too short in the story line and it didn’t feel like a true RPG, yes you could go anywhere but to get to certain places or to get power armour you had to do the main quests which made the experience not yours to control.
I still enjoyed F3 and New Vegas but I guess after that many years waiting and the gaming industry changing so much since F2 that I had high expectations.
The Vats system in F3 and N Vegas was a great idea and before the game came out I was wondering if they were still going to have turn based combat or just real time shooting so it was great to see, the only thing missing was the option to hit the groin lol which in F2 could get you out of mischief.
So the Fallout series to me is still a must have and I look forward to F4 and hopefully a brotherhood of Steel spinoff would be nice.
