Important news for console players!

I haven't seen this mentioned, and while it's not make-or-break for a lot of people, it's something I feel will make a HUGE difference to the quality of gameplay...

"with robust and reliable host migration for the consoles"

Host migration confirmed. Lacking this feature was basically my only major criticism of the multiplayer in Transformers: War for Cybertron when it was first released. The map packs killed it completely, but before them, the only problem was the lack of host migration. getting "host quit" messages as you're taking 1st place (because the guy you just overtook was the host, of course) was rather frustrating. Glad SD didn't fall into that trap.

Must admit whether there was host migration or not never crossed my mind, but it's great to know that there is.

Depends on their netcoding, once again. If they farmed that out to a fish scaling plant in Bangladesh, then the host migration would still be obsolete. I'm hopeful that the regional filtration system they use to select the host to begin with is up to snuff, because you could end up with a host in another country who connects to the internet with two tin cans tied together with dental floss. So it all rests on the shoulders of the almighty netcoding.

They are doing it themselves last I heard. Why would anyone oursource that? I mean besides its cheap and they care more about money than making a good game.

I didn't see the purpose if beginning a new thread for this since it technically does pertain to console users but...

Once the game ships, will the forums be re-calibrated with individual system headers(ie. a forum for PC Users, PS3 Owners, 360 Owners)? It would make sense to do it this way to address concerns specific to each gaming format. I assumed this would occur but at this point I can only speculate.

The two most recent online games I've played are Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and Transformers: War for Cybertron.

Neither one had host migration, and both have had issues because of it (WfC moreso).

I've given up on making assumptions when it comes to game developers. Even good ones.

Precisely. Take a stroll over to the MyCrysis Forums if you want to see some angry people. Crytek's netcoding was created using programming code off microchips found in old Soviet tanks.

I really dislike the host migration in black ops. It can happen multiple times within the first 10 seconds of a match. I has to be much better in BRINK if they expect the seamless single player, co-op, multiplayer experience to work.

Yes, let's hope Brink is more confident in its host choices. CoD often simply could not make up its mind.

Well yes and no.

It would have surprised anyone if BRINK would not have offered Host Migration.
