Mod (Companion) Help

Hello everyone :)

Here is my situation. I have made a new teleport home and created a male NPC by the name of Max. I have made him into a follower by following a simple tutorial. There are 2 tutorials that I have looked at, and both seem incomplete in their own way. The one I went with, makes Max show up as an enemy even though he won't attack me even if I keep attacking him. Right now he will follow me, he will show me his inventory and wear what I give him, and he will wait with a sandbox package. If you kill him, he will be unconscious for about a minute.

Would anyone be willing to work with Max to fix him so he doesn't show as an enemy? I give you free roam to do what ever you wish with him ( add more cool features, change the whole thing or anything your heart desires ). The only thing I ask is please don't touch his face, I love his face lol( I could be convinced if you really wanted to change it for the better though). The other thing about him is that the only way I can get his body skin tone to match his face is by using FO3Edit to change the tag to an esm...but I would prefer if the file itself was an esm if you know how and would like to do that. I want to release this mod to the public, but I want Max in tiptop shape before I do.

About the home ( AbodeMiniTeleportVault ):
There are 3 rooms: Kitchen, Bedroom and Living room with a bar area.
Everything is navmeshed
Rooms are http://geck.gamesas.com/index.php/gamesas_Tutorial_Optimization with room markers and portals.
Tons of display pieces, but not very many containers to keep it from being an uber cheat. Purpose of the home is to display your items, not to lock them away.
There is no light, cause the purpose is to buy the http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11634 and place them around, again, to make it so this mod isn't an uber cheat. Using the pipboy light is enough light at the beginning.
There isn't anything like the workbench or lab items cause I use FWE and want to buy them for the home.

So, please post if you would like to work with max and I will package up the file to send to you. Of course you get 90% of the credit for Max...ok so 99% of the credit :P

Is he in a faction? Any faction, besides Follower Faction? The only time I've had my follower hostile to me (before recruitment) was when I was in the Talon Company faction and his original faction (Rivet City Security) is enemies with them. So, that didn't go down too well :laugh:

I could take a look if you like. No problem there :)

Thank you MystykStar for replying :) At the time he was in 3 fractions, the follower, the teammate and the player. He was an enemy both before and after for some reason, yet acted like a friend to me. I have decided to just let Companion Share and Recruit handle his follower things since it does everything I would want done anyways (and better than what I tried to do). I changed him so that now he only has the player fraction. Guess I am learning as I get to know Max better lol.

Since I removed all those features from him (still have the .esp with all that information though), I will try to fine tune him and move onto the story behind him and the home.

If he's in the follower faction, I don't think he needs to be in the player as well. In Oblivion it was easy to figure out, just chuck them in the player faction and go recruit them (with CS&R) pretty much :)
Harkness is in all the Rivet City factions, like he always was. When recruited he's added to the follower faction. When he's fired he's removed from the follower faction. The follower faction is allied with the player faction so I think that's why it's not needed for him to be in both.

I occasionally referred to a tutorial - http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5506 - but mostly pulled apart Pistolero's Follower Autumn mod. IMO the easiest way to learn is to pick apart someone else's mod, see how they did it.
Don't take the easy way out and rely on CS&R ;) I did that in Oblivion. It was quick and easy although later on I pulled apart someone else's mod and created my own.

Ahh, that tutorial I went with (making my own edits of course)! Ok, Ok, you are right, I will sit down with him and mold him into my perfect companion :P I did open up Amy Wong companion mod and was instantly scared cause there were 30 Amy Wong NPC's that were created. I didn't know where to start so I closed it right away :rofl:

I will pick apart a few easier ones. I am long over due to learn the NPC stuff anyways :D Thank you very much!
