Blade training

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 3:28 pm

Why are both advanced Blade trainers in the Fighters' Guild, and more to the point, only willing to train you if you sign up? I don't recall Mages Guild or Thieves Guild trainers being so picky. :banghead:

I swear, it feels like the game is trying to shove the Fighters' Guild down my throat.....it makes me want to kill 'em all horribly just to spite them. :gun:

Alix Lenconia is the master blade trainer, and he is at the Faregyl Inn - not Fighter's Guild. I think you need to be referred to him though.

Just do what I do, join the Fighter's Guild, and only go in there for training! As long as you don't ask Azzan for a contract, no one offers one. You have to actually ask if you want to actually work for them, but joining opens up all the trainers.

Maybe its Bethesda's way of encouraging beginners to join the FG as an introductory guild.... a "Get a feel for the Game" kinda thing. I noticed it too.

I hate the Fighter's Guild with a passion.

The porters are stalkers.

The plot is awful. "Kay, go do 100 pointless killing missions while our people get stolen by the Blackwood Company and were laying on our arses, O wait dats bad, stop them pwease?"

Just awful rewards. "Yay gold!!!! Oh wait.. I'm level 30... useless!"

All anybody anywhere talks about is the Fighter's Guild. I've seriously heard two Marauders discussing it before while I was sneaking around.

Master of Fighter's Guild has next to zero perks. Wooooooo random loot every MONTH! Now if only I could get the stalking porters to stalk me around Cyrodiil and protect me...

No unique personalities other than names. "Hi, I'm Keld of the Isles, I don't care about my history involving isles, so I'm going to tell you random rumors everyone else in Cheydinhal talks about!"

The porters are stalkers.

Good lord did I hate those creeps. I downloaded the "Less Creepy Porters" mod, just so I could stand being a guildie. Xbox users could simply kill them, although that might be somewhat out-of-character. Then again, I think even Mother Theresa would eventually kill a fighters guild porter if they acted like that IRL.

A note to the OP: I feel your pain, but perhaps it's time to svck it up, go to a dungeon, and train your blade up from 50 to 70 the old-fashioned way. Then, at 70, stop by the fighter's guild and pick up the referral quest to Alix Lencolia, which I'm dead certain you do NOT need a guild membership to obtain.

That is the best answer.

What I do is use some little un-enchanted blade, and just keep hitting as quickly as possible till the enemy dies. Your blade goes up pretty quickly that way. The "Blade of Woe" is good for that. (plus you can keep repairing it and get your armorer up at the same time).

Well there's another solution for the OP: Join the Mages Guild :D

But seriously, as soon as you can make a Drain [skill] 100 Pts for 2 Secs on Self spell, you don't need anyone besides basic trainers anymore.

If you have Frostcrag, you're all set.

There are loads of ways to increase skills pretty quickly without using high level trainers. Probably the most brilliant of these is mentioned by Uncle Pain above.

I love the Fighters Guild. It is one of the longest questlines in the game, and really interesting. The money you earn for the jobs increases as you are given promotions, and the loot in the places they send you to is great. I think the questline is really fun.

Sounds like it. I've gone through the questline more than a few times. Sometimes the loot is really great, and sometimes the game spits in your face. :meh:

I wonder if that has to do with the level your character is on when it joins the guild, because I did get lesser loot this character than any of my other characters got - I started the Fighter's Guild at level 1 with this character, and usually start it later in the game. I know it is usually the best source for getting enchanted weapons and armor in the loot.

Another thing about the Fighter's Guild - after you have done each quest, the different cave's enemies never respawn, but the loot does, making them great places to "reap" later on if you need quick cash or are looking for some random enchanted loot, like a particular ring, etc.

FG reminds me too much of MS

Practicing on conjured targets hones two skills at once, anyways

Get 100% magic immunity (through Resist or Absorb effects, not Reflect), grab a few weak blades (I'd take 5 Iron Daggers), and find a Lich. Stand there whacking at it to level your skill. It won't be able to hurt you (but it might summon something that can) and you can break a few weapons on it skilling up. I did this with the King of Miscarcand, who doesn't summon a minion, but if you get one that summons a ghost (not a wraith, I think even the unarmed ones can use melee attacks) then you can safely ignore the summon. You might wanna take some weak blunt weapons too in case you feel like skilling that up, too.
